During World War I, soldiers were promised a ‘bonus payment’ to make up for wages lost while serving in the military- one dollar for each day served on U.S. soil and one dollar and twenty-five cents for every day served overseas. However, the Bonus would not be paid until 1945. Veterans initially agreed, based on the healthy state of the economy (Keaney 1). The Great Depression came and made thousands of veterans unemployed, like most Americans at the time. The veterans felt that their bonus should be paid early so that they could provide food and shelter for themselves and their families (Rank and File Committee 1).
One is the VA 's Spina Bifida Healthcare Program, which provides coverage for expenses incurred for medical services and supplies to treat spina bifida. The other is the CWVV, Children of Women Vietnam Veterans, which provides coverage for individuals suffering from certain condition. To qualify, an individual must have been conceived by female Vietnam War veteran during her deployment. Caregiver Benefits. Family members who are full-time caregivers for disabled veterans can receive stipends through the VA to cover certain expenses that accompany the care giving.
That’s why it makes perfect sense to expand and reconstruct the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) to undertake such a massive service. Veterans don’t deserve to be treated like this, the forgotten hero’s, now the homeless, and the starving.
Health care, benefits, and simply having money to survive are not problems that these individuals need to be facing after putting their lives on the line for us. Veterans need help, and our

However, few take the time to truly contemplate the meaning of these words. When I hear these phrases, I think of the principles on which our country was founded: the right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. But perhaps more important than these rights are the defenders of them: our veterans.
Veteran Benefits The issue of veteran benefits in the United States is not taken as seriously as it should be in our country, even though it is a growing problem that needs to be addressed. The lack of available funding for veterans is especially obvious when compared to that available for lower income citizens, or even illegal immigrants. Also, what does exist appears to fall short in taking care of veteran’s needs. Considering that these veterans are people who have risked their lives fighting for this country, the fact that they are not receiving immediate benefits or even what they have earned is unfair.
They also would need to go to the va but most veterans don 't live close enough to one to get the help they need. In contrast to all the things that soldiers have gone through they need all the help they need and deserve it. They need to have unlimited money to give all the help to returning soldiers and past soldiers for the sacrifices they gave to this beautiful country. They also deserve to have all their bills paid for by the va and not charged for it because some can 't afford the bills they are given. The ultimate sacrifice they don 't need the burden of bill to stress them out even more to could lead them to hurting themselves
Veterans are some of the bravest men and women that you will ever know. They fought for our country in our most desperate hours and risked their lives so we could have the chance to live ours. It is such a shame that they are ignored and even homeless in today 's society. I had wondered how we could get veterans of the street and back into the job world. After research I found that there are programs and methods put in place specifically to help these struggling veterans.
Veteran’s Benefits Veteran’s pay a heavy price for our freedom, but do we in turn repay them back? Once veteran’s return home they receive several benefits, such as education, disability compensation, and low-cost medical care. Each are specific due to how they benefit each veteran, but not all are capable of fully providing the veteran. Veterans receive benefits based on discharge from active military service other than dishonorable conditions. Active service must be serving full time as a member under several branches, Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, or as a commissioned officer of the Public Health Service, Environmental Services Administration or the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
When Veterans where serving they probably didn’t have nice beds or nice clothes. They probably didn’t get very much food or good food. They had hard times, but they were strong during those hard times. When Veterans served they sacrificed a lot. The veterans sacrificed their family and friends not knowing if they would ever see them again.
Soldiers had fought hard for America in WWII, had seen things that could not be unseen and now they were finally coming home with a victory. When they came back, the men that went to war needed jobs, housing, and some even still needed education. Being a soldier was their job full-time prior to the victory and now it was time to come back to work, however, many of the jobs were created from the war to help the war effort. This left some unemployed and the GI Bill supplied the veterans of the second World War with unemployment insurance. Although, researchers Larsen, McCarthy, Moulton, Page, and Patel (2015) describe one of the main purposes of the GI Bill as to provide the returning veterans with a paid education including books, supplies, and counseling that the veterans needed to complete and education.
During the history of the United States there have been very respectable speakers Martin Luther King Jr. John F. Kennedy but perhaps no greater leader in American history came to addressing the country like Abraham Lincoln. In his Second Inaugural Address, Lincoln gave a short speech concerning the effect of the Civil War and his own personal vision for the future of the nation. In this speech Lincoln uses many different rhetorical strategies to convey his views of the Civil War to his audience.
During a time in history when the United States was as divided as it had ever been, Abraham Lincoln delivered his Second Inaugural Address. The Civil War had been raging for four years, and victory was in sight for the Union. Many northern politicians wanted Lincoln to harshly punish and humiliate the South for all of the violence that its succession had caused. However, part of the wisdom that turned Lincoln into an iconic president was his intent to end the war “with malice towards none, with charity for all” and “ to bind up the nation's wounds, [and] to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan” (Second Inaugural Address).
Secondly, some veterans will come back from war and if they were shot or experienced heavy damage to the head, they can have severe brain injuries and when they’re homeless and they don’t have much help, that can be horrible for the homeless veterans. Lastly, while veterans are fighting in wars, if they get shot or a grenade goes
The US has grappled with many questions about society’s obligations as to whether or not to offer services and benefits to the men and women in the armed forces. Supporters argue that helping veterans will help the society as whole and opponents argue that we shouldn’t be increasing our federal government spending in repaying veterans. Although I do see where people can argue that we are spending too much money on helping veterans after war, I believe that the government owes them for what they have done for the country, despite the cost. The government owes certain benefits to veterans because the men and women in the armed forces deserve to be welcomed home with a generous system of services for what they have done for the country. Helping veterans goes way back all the way to the 1600s.
