Sam Smith was only 17 when he started going to college at East Los Angeles College. Sam grew up in Watts, Los Angeles, California. Growing up in a poverty neighborhood with a single parent motivated Sam to attend college and get a master’s degree in Psychology. Sam had to face many obstacles while going to college full-time and attending college, yet Sam still get good grades. Sam shared with me his secret in succeeding in college. He said that the three keys to succeed while working full-time and getting good grades in college were setting priorities, taking good notes and working efficiently to balance work and school.
