Volunteering is a wonderful act where citizens within the community give themselves, their time, their gifts, and their talents in order to benefit others without anything in return. Hatred and cruelty fill the world today, yet in the midst of all the bad, there is always something good. The simplest of gestures can be considered the most significant to someone going through a terrible time. Volunteering is an excellent way to humbly give a moment of time to serve others. Volunteer work gives back to those who are not as fortunate as other people and provides them with their basic needs. Volunteering demonstrates the kindness that is still left in the world. Volunteering is more than just giving time and materials away; it is about how we …show more content…
Volunteering is a great way to connect with others and build friendships since, “You will be in constant contact with both recipients of your volunteer efforts and your fellow volunteers” (RichmondVale). There are countless people continually donating their time towards the less fortunate; therefore, there is a wide variety of possible friendships to be made. “If you are both passionate about a cause, working together to reach a common goal will do wonders for you” (RichmondVale). Friendships that have mutual interests have a strong foundation and that is what volunteering offers to anyone who decides to serve. Having friends is amazing but having the right kind of friends is what truly matters. Where better to find a loyal, commendable friend than an organization that is based off love and care for others? Volunteering is a continuous cycle of many different people with the same interest; which gives volunteers numerous opportunities to form relationships with others. Working for a cause brings great opportunities to make friends and strengthens current relationships. Due to the constant rotating door of people, many life-long friendships can be made, and it can improve people’s social …show more content…
Fantastic benefits can occur when people carve out time in their day to aid others. “Older adults, especially those who have retired or lost a spouse, can find new meaning and direction in their lives by helping others” (Helpguide.org). Volunteering helps people once again regain a sense of purpose in their lives by serving others. Helpguide.org, a nonprofit dedicated to mental and emotional health, also states, “Volunteering can also help you build upon skills you already have and use them to benefit the greater community” (Helpguide.org). If someone has a special talent that he or she can use to benefit the society, they could be a useful addition to the organization. Anyone deciding to contribute as a volunteer offers a great deal simply by being present. By striving to help others, volunteers create an improved society for all, including the world of the volunteer. Citizens working together towards a common purpose can help cultivate wonderful outcomes for the individuals suffering in the community. By improving the lives of others, the volunteer, and the community at large, everyone has something to gain by the simple act of
The American Society for the Prevention of cruelty to Animals “We are their voice” this is the motto of The American society for the prevention of cruelty to animals (ASPCA) because they believe in standing up and fighting for the ones who can not stand up and fight for themselves. ASPCA was North America 's first established humane society and today is one of the world’s biggest. This interest group tries to influence the political process by asking for donations accompanied by a picture of a physically abused animal, on almost every page on their website to help raise money to help their cause and work against bills such as Ag-Gag legislation. Over the past couple years there has been the introduction of the Ag-Gag legislation. The farming
I love volunteering because even though you don't get money for helping someone, you get the joy and happiness of knowing you did something good for someone else. Being a member of Key Club and Junior Optimist I have the opportunity to volunteer frequently in the community and to the school. I have volunteered to work in various booths at the Glandorf Park Fest. I helped work at the YMCA Trunk or Treat to pass out candy to the little kids on Halloween. A group of my friends went over to Kalida to help with the Triathlon.
Volunteer’s dilemma consists of a person having to volunteer to do something that will benefit everyone and it does not matter who that someone is. However, if no one volunteers than everybody is in trouble. As famously seen when nobody volunteered to call the police in the 1964 murder case of Catherine Genovese when 38 people either saw of knew what was happening to her, in this instance, nobody volunteered and the outcome was the death of a young woman (Poundstone pg. 201-203). One of the reasons why nobody called or helped is because they thought someone else was going to
This experience furthered my understanding of self and personal life-purpose. From my experience, volunteer work is a vehicle to explore how we can work together in pursuit of a common vision, using the unique resources we can offer, such as: creativity, time and leadership. As a graduate student, I worked for Gibbels Public Affairs in Brussels, which furthered my understanding of international affairs and development. This year, I worked in face-to-face fundraising for Children International.
I never thought that volunteering would bring me much happiness and joy. It feels very nice when you help others and this happens to me every time I prepare and fill the taxes of the people who come to do their taxes to our office. The people who come are people of low income, and my heart feels leno and beats hard every time I help someone. This is my first experience being a volunteer and now I want to
Help change the world! Volunteering in your community can help out others in myriad of ways. This will create happiness in other lives. A nonprofit organization that can greatly improve the quality of one’s life is the second harvest food bank in central Florida. This organization is dedicated to helping the people that are in need of food.
I love to volunteer because it is something that I have always loved doing. I also want to spread my name more throughout Houston and along with that be able to give to my city. There's some things that the youth can have their voice in regarding the city. We always want to make sure we have all points of view included in things the city does. I also love working with different people.
Most of the time I have no choice but to spend from my own pocket to reach places and people who desperately need my help. I have realized that some drug addicts will not come to me for help; therefore, as a social worker, I will dedicate my time to visit them, talk to them and offer them rehabilitation and help. Similarly, when going to areas stricken with poverty, I will have to bring along things like foodstuff and clothes to offer the poor. Voluntary service helps to change people’s perspectives on life and makes them feel obligated to achieve something good as ‘payback’ to the volunteers who help them without asking for pay. Therefore, by doing voluntary work, I will be making a big difference in the society.
Volunteering is very important; it is both vital to the people receiving aid as it satisfies their needs, and it is important to those administering aid as it gives them joy and helps them become better people. The reason I volunteered for St. Margaret 's Fair was so I could finally stop sitting around and get to work. When I saw the opportunity to do something important, I grasped at it; I selected the ring toss game was because I felt it would be fun and important. I do believe my job at the St. Margaret 's Fair was very important as it both collected money for those in need and, at the same time, instilled me with a love of volunteering. The purpose of the fair was to collect money for humanitarian efforts in the local area.
Finally, I will continue to volunteer because of it give and what you get out of it. It was one of the best experiences of my life and I came out felling really well. What I got of volunteer over and over is that giving your time and self-back to other, I will be able to bring the experience in my career and help me with college internship or
Personal Code of Ethics The journey of life is filled with trial and error, building our everyday experiences, combining them with past understandings along with insight of others, allowing us to learn. Gaining knowledge through involvement, making mistakes, and correct my own behaviour. Therefore, evaluate, analyze and understand; allowing me to grow personally as well as professionally. In writing my personalized code of ethics I have found that professionally it is important to maintain confidentiality, fairness, equality and compassion.
Volunteering is not an exclusively novel activity throughout the human history. During world war one, just in British there were 90,000 volunteers worked at home and abroad providing vital aid of caring for sick and wounded soldiers as recorded by British Red Cross. During wartime, no matter in which society there were people that spontaneously engaged in helping others in need. Volunteering does not only exist during the time of emergency or crisis, in fact it is always an indispensable resource for providing social service and improving our community.
VI. So today, I hope to persuade each of you to take a part as volunteer in any kind of situation. VII. Because, by being a part as a volunteer, it can increase your socialization yet it can make you physical and mental health more better and can improve your career level.
Volunteering is when you freely offer to do something without pay. In a person’s life, they have at least participated in community service one time. Whether it be working the concession stand at a ball game, picking up the mail for an elder, or even babysitting. For some people, volunteering helps them feel like they play an essential role while they are giving back to their community. Although volunteering is purely an act of kindness, it can also be very helpful in some people’s lives, such as making them feel like they are the difference makers.
Volunteering is a way of helping others. It is giving a person 's time and ability to help someone who may be in need of help. Not only does volunteering help others, but what they may not know is that it can be helpful to themselves. It is a great way for someone to interact with others in their community. It gives someone that time to themselves while also creating bonds when they are doing the greater good.
