Winning a war is not easy, which is why the British hired a highly trained, German Mercenary group to fight the colonists. After a recent string of patriot victories, the British needed someone to help fight the colonists. So, they hired an army from Prince Frederick II of Hesse-Cassel to bolster their ranks, and gain control of the colonies. These mercenaries were known as the Hessians.
