Algebra can be applied in many fields like engineering and physics. Algebra is the foundation of more advanced mathematics. One of the main reasons colleges makes algebra part of their curriculums is because some of the work you do, will require the use of mathematic skills to come up with answers related to your job. For example, in my legal job, the only example where I use algebra would be when I run statistic reports in excel. These reports gather statistical data of files that we have in our office. However, the mathematical formulas to come up with these statistics are simple and require basic operations like addition, subtraction and division.
