31% of students take their cell phones to school and still go on them (document 5). This shows how students are still taking their cellphones to school and are going on them during class which affects their school work tie. It is ruining their focus on school and is not helping them in a positive way for their grades and future. Technology will never replace skilled teachers (document 6). This quote shows how cellphones will not replace teachers but in school students are paying more attention to their cell phones rather than their teachers.
Communication has become very mobile over the past decade, most homes no longer even have landline phones. Cell phones now provide a way for parents/siblings to contact each other during the day for rides or changes in plans. During Bloomberg administration, the Mayor of New York, many parents complained to the school board with concerns, arguing that they need “to be able to easily contact their kids” (Keima 1). The successor of Mayor Bloomberg, Mayor Bill De Blasio, sided with the parents and changed the policy in order for the students and parents to feel safer.
1. Supporting point 1 : Having a cell phone on hand enables a student to quickly summon assistance in the middle of an emergency. a) Sub-supporting point 1 : For instance, if a student has some problem in school, or in the street after school, he or she can contact their parents immediately. b)
Most kids ages twelve to seventeen have cell phones, but 62% of schools don’t allow cell phones in the classroom. One day as I was walking to my class, I had my phone in my pocket, and my teacher stopped me. She told me I needed to put my phone in my locker, and I ended up being late and missed some instruction because I went and put it in my locker. Although some people may say that phones can create a distraction or be misused, the chromebooks/laptops the school provides also can be misused. The chromebooks are easy to play games on without a teacher knowing because you are supposed to be doing work on it while phones are much harder to play games on, without a teacher knowing.
It should be more important to know that something erratic is happening in your family, then worrying about distracting your classmates given that if a family member passed away, that would be more important to know than being concerned about distracting your classmates. You might be thinking that your parent can just call the office, and tell the office to pass on the information to the student, but by being able to talk to parent to child in school, it helps to alleviate the workload that the office already has to deal with. Cell phones are also useful during school because if there was an emergency to occur at the school, students can instantly call to inform their parents. In addition, there were many school shootings that happened in schools. Due to the help of cell phones, many lives of the children were saved in the school
Students should be able to use their cell phones in class because they can use them to check facts, you can do assignments on them, and parent to student contact would be much easier. One reason why Students should be able to use our cell phones in class is because they can use their mobile devices to check facts and get the information they need with their smartphones or mobile devices.
Furthermore, I have personally dealt with this issue myself back when I did not have a phone. I would be constantly running back and forth to the school office just to tell my parents that I have a school activity that I had to attend, or if I got lost in a mall I had no other option but to look for them myself and that would take hours. Moreover, when I did get my phone both my parents and I had a way to communicate with each other. Therefore, buying your child a phone is a key way to boost your communication with the child.
Schools that ban students from carrying phones see a clear improvement in their test scores, according to a study by the London School of Economics. All the kids have to do is wait till the teacher isn’t looking or is busy, then pull out their phone and look up the answers, and the teacher can’t be monitoring the kids at all times because the teacher has stuff to do. Second, phones shouldn’t be in school is because not every kid owns a phone, about 25% of kids don’t own a phone so if phones were allowed it would be unfair to ¼ of kids and not every kid has

Finally, when emergencies happen, it is always needed to respond and take action at the first time, so bring phones with students is the better solution rather than simply rely on school staff. Hence, students should be allow to bring phones to
With a teacher carrying a gun there is less to worry about than there already is in a day of a life for students. “A teacher having a gun in a classroom makes me feel safer as long a teacher has training and knows how to properly use a gun” stated April Jolley stay-at home mom (Murphy 5). Not only do students feel safer, but their parents feel safer as well Parents send their precious children off to an environment where anything could go wrong and get dangerous within a few seconds. Once something bad happens then the parents don 't have the confirmation that their child is alright and safe. Knowing teachers have a gun control is taken place and a big weight off their shoulders knowing everyday their child will come home safely everyday.
