Argumentative I don't think that Burmese Pythons should not be allowed to be kept in homes or as pets. They are not safe and can cause harm. A toddler or an infant would not be able to protect itself if it attacked it. When they are hungry they will eat anything they can to satisfy itself.
The Burmese python has become a predatory species in the Florida Everglades. The reason for this problem is the rapid growth rate of the species occurring all over the Everglades. The species have become pets and then thrown in canals. They also escape from zoos and move from other states because of the warm moist weather. The environment is an excellent breeding ground for the ever growing population of Burmese pythons in the Everglades.
Competition is fierce in the Everglades. The playing field is filled with native species, hungry for a win. A beautiful door is opened, and majestic Burmese Pythons slither in. These Burmese Pythons take over with their huge appetites and sharp teeth. These eating machines don’t provide a benefit to the Everglades, instead, they harm the ecosystem.
cold spell of January 2010, all of those pythons died (2010). All of this evidence leads scientists to believe that the Burmese Python invasion will stay in Southern Florida and not become a problem for the rest of the southern United States. Burmese Pythons are very elusive snakes and despite their large size, can be very difficult to find. In this study, tracking dogs will be used to find the snakes and their handlers will remove them once found. Dogs are known for their strong sense of smell and many are bred to hunt animals.
Changes in the local animals, changes in people, and changes in the ecosystem. When Burmese pythons are being released in the wild, this can cause pythons to kill animals such as alligators, deers, cats, dogs, birds, and rabbits. Also, when these vicious beast are being released, this affects the ecosystem because when pythons run out of food, these snakes would start eating the Everglades animals. Not only that but when humans see pythons slithering around, people think that the right thing to do is to host a challenge and offer money to those who are able to kill the most longest one.
How is the presence of Burmese pythons changing the Everglades? The Burmese python is a beautiful snake that can weigh up to 200 pounds and grow up to the length of 23 feet according to Piven 44. These snakes are native to Southeast Asia and ended up in the Everglades. These snakes mean no harm but due to irresponsible owners these snakes have adopted to the Everglades ecosystem.
Before Herman the UPD had to call the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission but they don’t take alligator calls anymore so then UPD had to settle to trapping them and then calling a Trappers. Trappers kill the alligators (Krebs). So much trouble goes into dealing with an alligator that’s why I strongly believe that we shouldn’t have gators living in the SoVi lake. What’s the point of constantly having to deal with this issue.
This means they're very big and capable of eating many things. After Hurricane Andrew huge amounts of Burmese Pythons escaped to the Everglades after the hurricane ruined an exotic pet dealers warehouse and freed tons of pythons. According to Source 4, it says, "Hurricane Andrew didn't help matters. An exotic pet dealers warehouse that housed nearly 900 Burmese Pythons was destroyed, and many of its' pythons escaped". Now there are tons of Burmese Pythons in the Florida Everglades and it has raised many problems.
The scientists want to be able to educate people about these snakes, so they can find out how to solve the problem. The invasive Burmese pythons, are negatively impacting the population of other animals in the Everglades. These pythons do not belong in Florida. With them around, Florida’s small mammals and birds living in the Everglades will be gone for good.
Burmese pythons are greatly changing the Everglades. One main point, Burmese pythons are changing the local animals. Pythons are killing all of the other animals in the Everglades! In the first paragraph of Source 2, the author explains, “With no natural predators, these eating machines appear to be wiping out huge numbers of opossums, raccoons, and bobcats, as well as
The Burmese python are a beautiful reptilian creature, with camo pattern skin. They are originally from Southeastern Asia and have invaded the everglades in florida. You ask yourself how did a creature from Asia come all the way to florida? Well pet stores have been selling Burmese pythons and have made it out, and are harming the everglades. First of all the everglades are found in florida and are an area marshy tract of land that is mostly under water and covered with tall grass, Burmese pythons have made their way into the everglades.
Burmese Pythons are overpopulating The Everglades, causing many effects on the ecosystem. This is affecting the local animals, the people, and the snakes themselves. The Burmese Pythons are overpopulating The Everglades. It is estimated that tens of thousands of snakes are living in The Everglades.
The text piece entitled “Do You Really Want a Baby Tiger?” states “While it is true that even dogs and cats can injure their owners or other people, they do not have the same unpredictable potential for serious or even deadly attacks that many exotic pets do” (Lewis). This represents how danger can strike at any time especially with exotic animals. The text piece also states “Exotic pets can also spread disease” and “In addition, many exotic pets end up on the loose in the wild”. Therefore, exotic animals are highly dangerous and they can be very harmful to people. People should get exotic animals as pets if they know that they could bring harm to them or anyone that the animal could get
Maintaining an environment suitable for an animal from a different ecosystem is extremely time consuming and expensive. Modern day homes are not equipped with backyard jungles for Bengal tigers, or large amounts of spaces with objects for chimpanzees to climb on. It is nearly impossible for exotic pet owners to imitate the natural homes of these animals, which is what they require to ensure the animal lives a comfortable life. What most fail to realize is that these animals will not be able to adapt from a South American jungle, or African plain to a caged in backyard with a completely foreign ecosystem and lifestyle than these animals are meant to belong in. Finding veterinary care for exotic animals is a difficult task, let alone being able to meet the dietary needs of large, carnivorous animals or massive mammals.
When we visit the zoo, we all thought monkeys and lions are cute animals, taking pictures with them and trying to get their attention. But when you live next to one, you no longer feel the same. Even if they are cubs or infants, you still see them as threats. I am sure some of you are facing the same problem, but that’s not your fault. Right now, Alabama is one of the few states yet to establish a law which requires an owner to obtain a license to possess big cats, monkeys, bears or other exotic animals.
