First Days of School in Kindergarten
I will be ready:
The first day of school stats before the teacher arrives at school.
For my first day, I will make sure I had a good night of rest, and that I get up early and take the time to get ready so I look professional to my students. The parents of my students will have already received a welcome letter a couple weeks before school start, with a “About Me” sheet to fill out with their child and to email back to me ( with a picture so I can learn my student’s name). That way, I will already know a couple of facts about each of my students. I will create a “About Me” book of my class to read together on the first day of school. An “About Me” sheet about myself will be included in this book.

We will practice following the teacher’s direction with a game on Simon’s says (but instead” Miss Viry says”)
Rule # 2: Raise your hand before speaking: We will sing and dance to the Sesame Street video "Raise your Hand" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYS3JIW18ao Rule # 3: Keep your hand and feet to yourself. We will read “Hands off, Harry!” from Rosemary Wells, and discuss the actions of Harry and why they are not appropriate.
Rule # 4: In the classroom, keep an indoor voice. (will demonstrate and practice indoor and outdoor voices)
Rule # 5: Be nice to everyone ( we will talk about what it means)
We will then introduce the consequences of a rule being broken, and explain that a consequence is not a punishment, it is the consequence for a choice the student makes.
Time for a break:
After all this time seating we need to take a break! Students will go to their desk, reflect on the classroom rules, choose one of them to represent in a drawing. Teacher will right the rule # on the drawing, and all will be hung on the wall near the classroom rules.
A couple more procedures are taught so we can go to
3. Ask, “Does anyone have any questions?” 4. Remind students, “There will be no running, loud talking, or fighting over items. You know how to behave
School rules are defined in either the teacher handbook or the school handbook which are distributed electronically at the start of every school year. At Medomak Valley High School,
Rules are a basic law that we must abide by. Schools in particular are a common place for rules to be followed by students. Each classroom has their own rules as well such as no texting in class or not being late. Society today is built around rules; we rely on rules as a form of societal conduct. Even if we like them or not, or abide by them or don’t, rules are everywhere.
When reading Chapter 5 “Craig Seganti on Taking charge in the classroom”, the overall chapter was interesting when it comes to managing a classroom. As a teacher, we want to be able to control the structure of a classroom, but at times is unable to accomplish the task due to our student’s behaviors. At the beginning of the chapter it states a productive classroom may have difficulties but it is the way a teacher present themselves along with the rules of the classroom determines the outcome of the student’s actions. When presenting to the students the rules of the classroom, the teacher needs to present the rules on the first day of school and have the students sign a copy to ensure they are aware of the information. When it comes to the
1. Ms. Allegra needs to consider that the rules she set forth are define the behaviors that she wants the children to demonstrate, and that the behavior expectations are general guidelines for children’s expected behavior and apply across all settings. Ms. Allegra need to make sure the rules are age appropriate and culturally responsive. The age appropriate rules, that the teachers must consider typical behaviors of children in the age group with which they are working and what the children can understand.
In 1954 students in schools started integrating to other schools, before this big event, kids were put in separate schools. This was due to their race. R.V. Cassil wrote the book, The First Day of School which revolves around two members of a family (brother and sister) that are forced to go to an all white school. The book starts off with John messing with his bowl of cereal, while talking to his mother about why his sister, Audrey, is not down stairs yet.
I visited two classes in an p-k through fifth grade elementary school. The teachers will be called Miss P for the preschool and Miss H for the first grade. I chose a four year old boy from the preschool class who will be called Pb and a six year old girl from the first grade who will be called Fg. The two were of different ethnic backgrounds with Fg being african american and Pb being white. This paper will include observations, and comparisons about the children, teachers, classroom environment and whether the naeyc code of ethical conduct was followed.
In some classrooms it is beneficial to hang the classroom rules on the walls, or bulletin boards, and go over them day to day. As the students get better with the positive behaviors in the classroom, the reciting of the expectation can decrease.
Pulling Your Own Strings Summary In “Pulling Your Own Strings” everybody seems to be victims. What exactly is a victim? Well a victim is someone harmed, injured, or killed as a result of a crime, accident, or any other event or action. In this case everyone is a victim by being harmed.
It was my first day at Reyburn Middle School in Clovis, California. Lunch hour was approaching and I could feel the wavering anticipation of the other students. It became so apparent that it was almost a tangible substance; something that could be seen and felt. Finally the bell rung and the students fled from their captives to rejoice with their friends and release the cathartic build-up from the day’s worries. I bought my lunch and to my dismay, as I panned my gaze across the courtyard, saw the invisible barriers the students had constructed to keep themselves within their respective groups.
Ever since starting pre-school, I have been ecstatic on the first day of school. One day I will always remember is the day I went into kindergarten. I woke up to my dad singing “It’s Time to Get Up,” as I did every school morning. I dashed out of bed in a state of euphoria because I knew today was the day I could finally go to the
According to Zooey Deschanel, nothing can be as hard as middle school. I was a big scaredy cat when I started middle school in 5th grade. My guts were flipping and flopping on that first day. Even though I didn’t know any teachers or friends, I made new friends and met new teachers. I had Mrs. Wherley as a homeroom teacher, she was nice as pie to me.
There should only be a minimal amount of rules, they should have easy, positive wording, and should be specific observable behavior (Marchant, 2012). The following literature reviews will show the importance of proactive classroom management through praise and consistent consequences through punishments. It will attempt to show the link between each behavior management technique and a decrease in disruptive
First Day of Middle School Beep Beep, Beep Beep, my eyes shot open. I tried to stand up, but I just fell back into my bed saying I can do this. I finally got up and walked to the bathroom to brush my teeth. After that I looked in the mirror and my hair is in a rat's mess, then I go back in my room grab my brush and make sure my hair is perfectly srate. I look in the mirror and make sure I looked good, and then I head out the door and go to the bus stop.
The teacher will explain to the students the rules. When a rule is broken the student will already know what is the consequence for their misbehavior. These details both agree that if misbehavior is being displayed a consequence will be administered. (Kagan, n.d.)
