What is language? All of us use at least one language to communicate with each other throughout the day but how many of us really know the meaning or definition of a language? By definition, language is the method of human communication, either spoken or written, consisting of the use of words in a structured and conventional way. What do we use a language for- communication! Now, what is communication? The imparting or exchanging of information by speaking, writing or using some other medium. Basically, it means to pass information back and forth between two living organisms. We always think that our pets talk to each other in a weird way, and are disturbed by animals making noises but maybe we are the ones doing the same to them if not more. So now in modern times, we have roughly around 7000 languages that are listed by The Ethnologue catalog of world languages. Let’s talk about India, we all know that India is a multicultural, diverse and multi-linguistic nation. Approximately 1652 languages are spoken in India, out of which 22 are official. So, with so many native tongues available and spoken in our country, why does the modernized India prefer speaking in a foreign language? Why is it that one’s intelligence or literacy can only be determined if one is able to speak English well? Here are a few reasons Stockholm Syndrome: What is that?
