Air pollution is contamination of the indoor or outdoor environment by any chemical, physical or biological agent that modifies the natural characteristics of the atmosphere. Household combustion devices, motor vehicles, industrial facilities and forest fires are common sources of air pollution. Pollutants of major public health concern include particulate matter, carbon monoxide, ozone, nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide. Outdoor and indoor air pollution cause respiratory and other diseases, which can be fatal. (WHO, 2017)
According to a research report by WHO, over 6500 Ghanaians die annually from air pollution and the situation is worsened by the fact that acute respiratory illness caused by air pollution is one of the top 10 causes of outpatient visits in the country. (Acquah, 2016)

This is because there are a lot of major activities in the cities that contributes to outdoor air pollution the major air pollutants are the industrial waste, fumes from cars and motors, dust and chemicals expelled into the atmosphere. My community not much in the city still experiences its share of outdoor air pollution from fumes from cars, dust as one of the major one, chemicals used in agric production. Dust is seen to be the major air pollutant because the roads in the community are not tarred hence the movement of cars, people and all other activities contribute to the release of dust in the atmosphere. This is at its peak in the early mornings; during the mornings, everyone sweeps his/her compound and this act of environmental cleanliness also leads to the high volume of dust introduced into the atmosphere causing severe allergies and other serious
