Earthquakes are a work of God. He makes them happen and makes it all for his purpose and even for our purpose. Some people may not know why he does this, but trusting in Him is the best thing to do. The San Andreas fault was formed for this purpose so that huge earthquakes would happen and people would put our trust in Him. Due to the San Andreas fault, the San Francisco earthquake of 1906 made the United States army have a huge role in helping extinguishing the fires, supplying clothes and food for those who lost all of their possessions, impacted the city and people, and shows what could happen to the city and economy in the future. The San Francisco Earthquake is known to be one of the deadliest seismic events in the United States history. At 5:12 am on Wednesday April, 1906 it all happened. Lots of the wild fires broke out and many people burned to death. “Eyewitnesses reports tell of trapped victims begging to be shot rather than be left to burn” (Young). The earthquake had such a big impact on the city that it could be felt by people in Southern Oregon and Southern Los Angeles (“Great 1906 San Francisco Earthquake”). It was said that “the ground rose and fell like an ocean at ebb tide,” where the water flows away from shore between the high and low tide (Richardson). The earthquake and fires also impacted the city and people at the same time. People came from all over and some would take over 200 pictures. One man named George Lawrence shot a famous picture called “San Francisco in ruins” (Guevarra and Pick-off White).
