THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND 1.1 Introduction Traffic violations have been a day-to-day incident throughout our country. It has always been on the list of problems that most countries face. According to a website, speeding remains to be the biggest problem for drivers. Numerous accidents caused by violations had been occurring and continuously claiming lives of many civilians. The investigation and implementation of different methods for speed determination is a well-known area of interest in the field of Digital Image Processing and computer vision problems. In this study, the researchers intended to measure a bus’ instantaneous speed and identify if it is violating the speed limit. The system was called the Multiple Detection of Over speeding Buses from …show more content…
Today, different advanced technologies are emerging in helping the authorities enforce speed limit on roads. With the help of these devices, various methods and strategies are used to help in monitoring the vehicles’ speed on roads. Some of the devices used by the authorities are: Visual Average Speed Computer and Recorder (VASCAR), radar speed guns, LIDAR speed guns, and The Infra-Red Traffic Logger (TIRTL). These devices prove to be a big help to the authorities in implementing speed regulations, however, these technologies has limitations that gives way to inaccuracies in speed measurement. Like in radar guns, it takes up to 2 seconds before it can lock on vehicles and hand-held modulation can falsify the readings on it. For LIDAR speed guns, certain colors such as black, blue and violet can be poor reflectors. Also, extreme sunlight can be damaging to LIDAR guns. While in VASCAR, one major disadvantage of it is its use of average speed in calculating a vehicle’s speed. With this, even if a car is over speeding, it may not be detected when using average
Traffic laws are avoided and taken for granted every day, similar to red-light violations, speeding, and not wearing seat belts. In the article, “Cintas Lists the Seven Most Hazardous Driving Habits”, a person who performs these driving habits is known as “The Rule Breaker.” Running a red light is expressed by aggressive drivers, rushing, or not paying attention. Red-light violations are often so dangerous due to the collision that usually occurs at 45 degree angles (Moser). This type of collision can have an outcome of severe injuries.
Persuasive speech I would like to start off by asking a question. How many of you have driven a car over the speed limit on the freeway? Ok and out of those hands how many of you have been pulled over or involved in some type of vehicle accident? As a guy who is very interested in racing cars I have spent a huge chunk of my time to research that increasing speed limit for safety is valid I hope today to persuade you on why the United States should increase the speed limits on freeways not just to have the cops back off a little but to reduce accidents that happen on freeways. Today I will talk about the complications of such low speed limits and why higher is better,
The US went through revolutionary advancements in transportation from 1800 to 1840. The transportation improvements had substantial effects on the economy and also individual development. People could now buy goods that were made in places faraway because access was easier to towns and cities and people’s experiences grew as they were able to be more mobile (309). The roads were inadequate in 1800, so the federal government funded the National Road in 1808 to establish its dedication to improve the roads in the nation and so then by 1839 the East and West would be tied together (309). Commerce was still inadequate even with the National Road funded which improved transportation.
“Every year 500,000 teens are injured in a car wreck. Every year 5,000 teens die in a car wreck meaning an average of 14 teens die a day. Car crashes are the No. 1 killer of teens in the U.S. Even more than alcohol and drug abuse, violence and suicide”. Teens are always excited to earn their license and drive out on the road for the first time, but not every time will be a success, it might also be their last.
Such errors like driving too fast for conditions, lack of scanning that is needed to detect and respond to hazards, and, being distracted by something inside or outside of the vehicle. Cutting out those critical errors could theoretically could decrease the number of teen driving accidents by seventyfive percent. According to the Governors Highway Safety Association, speeding is the cause for one out of every three fatal car accidents involving teenage drivers. Automated speed cameras could be the solution to the rapidly growing speeding problem.
It’s a pretty frightening statistic that about a quarter of speeding tickets in the US are issued in error. If you’ve ever been slapped with one of these fines, then, you may be wondering how many of them you could have actually dodged in the past. Shadowing, cosine angle faults and RFI interference are all common errors when it comes to traffic cops issuing speeding tickets. Whatever the problem was, the most important thing to you is probably how you can get off the violation! Here’s a brief guide to fighting your next speeding ticket.
My essay is about why imposing speed limits is important. First, speed limits keep people from speeding, especially on the freeways. If drivers are driving at 90 m.p.h. it puts everyone around them in danger. The Department of Transportation has researched why driving at 70 m.p.h.
The major dangers of speeding include the environmental aspect, driving too fast for road conditions, and speeding kills. Driving responsibly is our duty as citizens. We must be defensive in our driving habits. Defensive driving is driving to save lives, time and money, in spite of the conditions around you and the actions of others. Also, defensive driving is the responsibility of everyone who operates a vehicle in our roadway community.
Thousands of people die each year from auto accidents. Many deaths caused by speeding leave families devastated. “Speeding accidents about as popular as drinking and driving accidents” (Boyles). Speed limits is supposedly what keeps us safe while out on the road. Many people think that they do not need to follow the speed limit signs.
David Odom Rafael Gonzales English 102 13 February 2018 Driving slow in the fast lanes Driving can be frustrating. It doesn 't matter when, where, or what but its frustrating. An issue that needs to be addressed is Arizona drivers who drive slow in the fast lane. Little do they know this adds extra danger as well as frustration to the equation.
This means that our governments should invest in redesigning our road, highways and freeways to cope with high speed limits. High speed limits do not mean that our road has become unsafe, but their design is not appropriate for certain new speed limits. Our roads have been the same for many years and have not been updated for decades. In addition to that, the reckless driving, lack of driving and road maturity is causing hundreds of causalities yearly. The drivers on the road lack respect, gratefulness and gratitude to other drivers and that’s why accidents are occurring.
Speed limits are vital to ensure people’s safety, both the driver’s and surrounding pedestrians. The most common cause of road accidents are because of speeding. The higher speed increases the chance of an accident. Enforcing speed limits may help prevent accident that occur on roads. Statistics show the Each year over 700 people are killed in crashes involving someone exceeding the speed limit.
The problems caused by speed limits on the highways can not only be solved by looking at the many mistakes in thinking that people have about speed but by looking at the many advantages of no speed limits on
Speeding There are many effects of speeding, such as ticket fees, going to court, driver important class, and a rise in insurance. All of these effects will make you rethink speeding, no matter what the causes for speeding are. Speeding is a very serious matter that could be prevented. Running late, or just wanting to go fast are two of the major causes of speeding.
Traffic congestion can lead to drivers becoming frustrated and engaging in road rage. Traffic
