In regard to the case provided, explain How Sheikh Mohammed transformed Dubai, and discuss the positives and negatives of his approach along with his leadership style and approach.
Sheikh Mohammed was leader with a vision who transformed the city of Dubai and make it the best in the world (Ricard, et.al. 2017, pp.149). This is something he was able to achieve through the goals he set for education, diversifying economy, tourism, foreign investments and other.
Actually, Sheikh Mohammad transferred Dubai by the good match of his business strategy and the operation strategy "according to the positioning school, operation strategy must be designed to be consistent with and supportive of overall business strategy" (Bettley A, 2007, p.41). The monitoring and checking activities not performed well for example, the response to the environmental problems occurred only in 2007 which hindered the sustainability. The respond to foreign labors problem was late as well and this indicate that problems not solved when they arise.
Moreover, the financial crises effected Dubai due to the large abroad loans and investments needed for the fast and quick development of Dubai. Dubai did not consider the timing aspect in planning and implementation of transformation of Dubai " Managing in a time of impermanence is no easy feat. To compete, businesses need to refine organizational processes and leverage institutional and outside knowledge more effectively" (EMC 2009, p.11)
