Firearms is one of America’s most controversial topics, one side argues that guns should be outlawed and only permitted to those in association with the government, while the other side replies that guns should be buyable to law abiding citizens and should not be outlawed. I myself fall on the side that claims why guns should not be outlawed, and why we should be able to possess firearms if we do our duties as a citizen. In the constitution under amendment II, it states that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, what this means is that no one should be able to take away our rights to keep and use firearms. But there are still people who think that guns are too dangerous and lead to an excessive amount of casualties, and instead would like to keep guns off the streets.. To that I respond with the phrase that guns don 't kill
Due to the unfortunate events that have happened in the past, many people are strongly for the regulations of firearms in the United States. Even though there are occasions where firearms are used by criminals for nothing less than evil, there are still many situations where firearms have been used to stop that same kind of evil. From stopping a criminal from robbing a convenient store to from stopping a sniper from killing more people than he already has, firearms have been used for good and not for evil in more situations than not.
The right to bear arms helps protect ourselves and our families. It is our constitutional right to bear arms and I believe it should not be taken away. Some people think if we did not have guns there would be less crime in the United States, but that is not true. When a person purchases a gun at a store they have to register that gun in their name, unless they buy a used one from someone else. If guns are banned the government will take innocent civilian guns away, because they have them registered in their names. However, that is going to put our lives in more danger because a lot criminal’s that have guns would not have theirs taken. Most criminals would not get their guns taken away because more than likely they are not registered and wouldn’t be found by the government. They would continue to cause crime and kill
Gun control is a major argument in today’s society. When discussing guns, most are highly against them. Not only are they used for a defense mechanism but are also used to provide a source of food to the public. Whether being a complete ban or people being forced to get a background check in order to purchase an armed weapon. While guns are banned, people will look for anyway they can to use guns, which leads to stealing and more possible deaths or injuries. Guns are important not only for self-defense or sport but to keep our country under control.
In today’s society, one of the most alienating issues in American politics is gun control. More specifically, the issue is whether or not guns should be banned in the United States. Some people would say that guns should be banned because it would reduce crime as a whole and keep citizens safer. These people, enthusiasts of stricter gun laws, fear being safe in their country where there are so many people who have access to guns. Opponents of this argument, however, also fear losing safety. They fear that they will not be able to protect themselves on a daily basis, or in a worse case scenario, protect themselves if the government happened to turn on citizens of the country. They would also argue that people, especially criminals, can still find ways to gain access to guns. Guns should not be banned in the United States due to them being able
The question on whether the 2nd Amendment in the U.S. should be changed or not has become a widely discussed and argued topic as of recent, due to recurring incidents of shootings occurring on U.S. soil by its own inhabitants. While many would be in support of the right to bear arms, including myself, I do believe that the current gun laws need to be made more restrictive than they are in their current state, for the sake of the country and the safety of its people. I’m well aware that I am not a U.S. citizen and that I have no say in what decisions are made there regarding the country’s constitution, but I feel that what I have to say is shared by many of America’s people and that it’s not only Americans that are affected by guns but also those who are visiting the country from abroad.
In this day and age, gun control is a major debate. Many believe that guns should be banned due to gun violence, but is that absolutely necessary? However statistics and historic documents like the Second Amendment, show evidence against gun control advocates, proving that guns should not be banned in America due to gun violence.
In other to justify my argument, first I will have to define the meaning of ‘’Gun control’’. Gun control can be defined as the limiting of gun ownership in the society. My argument can be supported by a very reasonable utilitarian argument. However, by restricting gun ownership, the tendency of people getting injured or killed by guns will be reduced. While denying people their rights to own guns can be taken as a harm, as this is supposed to be offset by the greater reduction in harms to the potential victims of guns (or people with guns).
George Mason, the co-author of the Second Amendment to the Constitution once stated, “I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them.” Freedom from slavery is the reason many people came to this country, and the right to bear arms is a fundamental part of this freedom. Gun control is a type of slavery that many people do not recognize. Civilian possession of handguns should not be banned in the United States.
Guns should be banned in America, with 30,000 deaths yearly in America, we need to do something about it. Many counties have made strict gun control laws or just have banned guns and that seems to be helping them. We have the most gun deaths out of all wealthy countries, which is unacceptable and we need to change it as fast as possible to prevent further deaths.
In conclusion we should have better gun control. There are roughly 32,000 gun deaths per year in the United States. That’s a big number of deaths. There should be a law were every gun how has ever been checked out or bought to have a number and if stole they have to report about just in case someone is trying to use it for the something bad. For the better and the sake of our planet we should have better gun control considering it will save a lot of lives. Maybe even make this place
Why take away the protection and recreational shooting practices of innocent citizens because others are irresponsible? Gun control laws are a major issue being discussed in the U.S. right now. Some believe that by condemning the availability of firearms to all, criminals and people with mental illnesses will be less likely to attain firearms. However they are then violating the people’s second amendment right, which give them the right to bear arms. According to the article on “Gun Control Laws” from the Issues and Controversies database, It all started on “June 12, 2016, when a gunman killed 49 at a gay nightclub in Orlando Florida.” After this attack, President Barack Obama said, “Today marks the most deadly shooting in American history.”
Are handguns necessary for the average citizen or should handguns be banned? In the article “Why Handguns Must Be Outlawed” by the author Nan Desuka, she argues on the matter and issues of handguns. Throughout the entire essay Ms. Desuka gives her point of view on why guns should be outlawed for everyone. Everyone, except for the police officers. Explaining how and why it would make this country less crime filled and safer for all citizens. All of the examples and facts that Desuka gives her audience demonstrates that she wants the audience to take into consideration the ownership of handguns. This paper will analyze the article that Desuka wrote on the use of statistics, responses from people that disagree, her use of pathos and her logic.
Guns: They are a major debate topic in the American political field. Both liberals and conservatives vye to implement their ideas into law, believing their side to be the solution to the topic. Although gun violence is present in American culture, guns should not be banned in the United States for a multitude of reasons. First and foremost, banning guns will not stop criminals from obtaining and committing crimes with them. Furthermore, guns don’t kill people; people kill people. Lastly, guns prevent the government from becoming tyrannical and oppressive.
If the government is trying to prevent any more casualties than there absolutely has to be, just by banning guns they are not going to succeed. What the government should do is when someone tries to apply to get a concealed weapon permit or just a license to own a weapon the should have to go through a series of tests to test their mental status in case the doctors have not diagnosed them with any mental illness that might be apparent. These mental status test should happen to an existent of being tested about every two years or so to renew their license. The people of the U.S should be allowed to have weapons as self-defense but the people should use a proper gun safety and use a gun cabinet to store their guns in and keep it out of the reach of children. I also think that the Second Amendment was put into place for a reason, we the people of the United States are letting our government have too much power and that can be very consequential we are already starting to feel the negative effects of letting this happen. If we let the government have as much power as they have and even more we are going to lose our rights because once the government starts their big plan to completely over rule us we
