Most people believe that there are two paths in life. The first one is an uncomplicated, straight road to success without any mistakes, while the second one is a road with errors, twists and turns that leads to failure. The truth is that neither of those are the real roads to success. The road to success is paved with our failures, but in order to succeed our desire for success needs to be greater than our fear of failure. I believe that failures are learning experiences on the road to success. People tend to take the easy way out to avoid a setback or delay in reaching their goal, otherwise known as failure. We believe that when we fail it is an imperfect sign or a poor reflection of ourselves to our peers. We are scared to fail; that fear takes over us, makes us tense and not perform as well as we could. When trying to avoid failure we become stagnant and do not grow or get any closer to the goal that we are trying to reach. In the process of avoiding what makes us frightened we complete beginner tasks so that we can achieve effortless success. The success that you achieve doing a simple task is not “real” success, but phony and we are telling an evasion to ourselves. That success is not making us better, but forcing us to stay at a mediocre level in whatever we are doing. Also, events or activities that could be learning experiences make …show more content…
It is up to you, how bad do you want to be successful and achieve greatness? We must remember the road is not a straight one, but a road full of unexpected stops with twists and turns that cause vexations. Use your failures and mistakes as your teacher or as an objective to reach, because that is what they are there for. We can not let fear rule our lives, remember we control how we react from a failure and they are just learning experiences on the road to
Dana Nguyen Ms. Newray ERWC, Period 5 August 28, 2015 Perez’s & Graff Articles Summaries In Perez’s article, Want To Get Into College? Learn to Fail [ Feb. 12, 2012], failure is the most significant, but hurtful step towards a successful life. If a person has never honestly dealt with failure, how can they possibly ever improve or move forward? It is important to learn and be able to solve problems in society, whether it is for academic or not.
In life we tend to see failure as a terrible thing. When we do fail, most of the time we want to give up and see it as the end of the world. However there are few that see failure as an opportunity to do better and rethink the mistakes that were made in the past. Angela Duckworth, Emily Hanford, and CarolDweck all provide their research on how one can have highachievement e in life. Angela’s Duckworthresearch on grit proposes the idea that if someone stays persistence for a long time they can master something.
In life, failures sometimes happen. It happens to everyone. However, failures don’t define us as a person, but it builds you as one from those experiences. In my seventeen years, I have experienced my own share of blunders, each teaching me a new lesson. The person who succeeds without first failing hasn't really learned anything; in failures, there can be a learning experience and an opportunity to grow.
In conclusion, without failure and staying enthusiastic when we fail, there would be no success. Therefore, I agree with Winston Churchill that failure is a key part of success. If you keep your enthusiasm high even when you fail multiple times you will eventually have success.
Lani: I was helping for someone’s project for COMM 245; I was in the video lab, in the studio. I was on campus and decided to contact everyone I knew who comes to the school. I remember I sent out a snap saying guys I think there is a shooting, be careful and then I started sending out individual texts to people making sure they were okay, like hey are you good? Stay out of an area.
As terrifying as failure is, it can be beneficial. Failure, by definition, is a lack of success. The reason this scares people is because it means they did something incorrect, or not good enough. But failure couldn’t inspire more.
Goal Number One I didn’t know it yet, but the way I viewed the game of lacrosse was about to change drastically. It was a normal day for me. I was in eighth grade, and I was getting ready for school.
Just because you fail once, doesn’t mean you just stop and give up, you try harder the next time to accomplish your dreams and it could lead you to a successful
Failure is vital to the growth of not only heroes, but ordinary people as well, as it teaches them how to move past their guilt and negativity in order to persevere. Through the article Nine Ways to Fail Better, the author shows that it’s not easy to deal with failure, but it is extremely important to move on. The author states, “Blaming yourself for the bad things that happen to you--are probably the biggest reason people metabolize failure badly.” In expressing that one should put the blame on themselves, “for the bad things that happen to [them]” stresses the idea that failure is often inevitable, and there is not much that can change the outcome of the situation. Additionally, there is no sense in feeling shameful about failure.
I have always believed these lessons help me in my everyday life and the classroom. If I don’t do well on a test, forget my homework or I don’t do well on a project I don’t let it get me down. I think learning what you did wrong, fixing it, and getting it right the next time should be the goal. A failure needs to become a learning experience that you can build off of.
“I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can't accept not trying. (Michael Jordan)” Humans learn from their failures, but they learn nothing if they do not try to succeed as Michael Jordan explains in this quotation. We must try to truly learn, as simply being taught does not lead to true understanding.
In swimming, I can’t expect myself to swim like Michael Phelps in less than a month by swimming dead sprints six hours straight, but it would take small improvements such as having a healthy diet, good sleep, and improving my swim technique and implementing it when I start to feel tired, because that is where my technique and speed starts to progress. Completing minor achievable goals can lead to impatience and tempt you to making major objectives that you want great improvements on in the shortest amount of time, such as when Brother eagerly proclaims,”Once I succeeded in teaching Doodle to walk, I began to believe in my own infallibility and I prepared a terrific development program for him,”(Hurst 421) presenting the idea of Brother thinking he could make immense improvements on Doodle because Brother believed he was perfect just after teaching him to walk. Short-term goals will over time help you climb the ladder to your awaited prize, but the temptation of pride gets in our way to sidetrack us from these small tasks and mislead us to humongous objectives that we want
As a 17 year old, my view of failure is when I fall below my family’s expectations in my academic endeavors. I have not had many failures that have crippled me, but I have had a few failures that have caused detours in my path to be in pharmaceuticals and in epidemiology. J. K. Rowling says that “it is impossible to live without failing at something unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all.” She is saying that life comes with failure, which gives you experiences to move on and continue living. I have absolutely no plans to live cautiously; I want to gain these life experiences from my failures.
Everyone knows that life is not easy all of the time, and everyone will make mistakes. Making mistakes is an inevitable part of being human. However, it is what you choose to do afterwards that matters. Successful people choose to leave it in the past, and to learn from it in the future. It is hard to be successful if all of the focus is on failure.
People need to learn the real meaning of success which means accomplishing personal goals as compared to the myth of following other people’s story of
