In my eighth grade opinion George Washington was one of America 's greatest leaders of all time. He was first introduced to the public eye when we fought in the Revolutionary war. He fought off them off in a huge bloody battle that matched the British’s coats. He was a stern man and he wouldn’t abandon his men for anything. He used his very intelligent brains to strategically plan his crossing of the Delaware. After all his dedication to America it gave him some love back by making him first president of the United States of America. When he first made it to office he obtained the most ever votes because he had no competition for the presidency. He said the first oath at Federal Hall in New York City. In 1783 Washington resigned as commander in chief and tried his hardest to resume life as a farmer. Although, he was very upset with the curent affairs of the country. With much hesitation and a large crowd of supporters, Washington was roped back into government. He was soon elected the first president of the United States of America. As president, Washington set many precedents including two terms of service, which was kept in place until President Roosevelt.
Washington was a genius on the battlefield and came up with helpful tactics. He also obtained the ability to keep his struggling army together. Washington not only lead his army, but guided, directed and motivated them to persevere and keep going.
While sometimes congress, the people and even his own army were willing to give up the fight, George Washington was willing to fight by himself even if he had to and die for the American cause. His determination allowed for the cause to stay alive, and motivated a whole country to keep on fighting. George Washington was a great leader. He had shown his leadership skills in many ways throughout his life, but mainly when he stepped into the role of president. The greatest president that has ever served the United States is George Washington. Out of the three that are listed here I think that his part in the American Revolution was the most important. Without him we wouldn’t have a leader, nor would we have continued to fight on. This was the first step to our new nation and without him we would have given up/still be under British rule. People like Washington have given people a voice and has motivated them throughout the years. He had kept our hopes up whenever we felt the need to give up and because of his role/actions we are our own
