,m/any people get confused and mix these two reasons and their meanings up. People seem to think that the internalized racism is correlated with whites and the internalized white supremacy is correlated with African Americans. This has become the result of our school systems failures. In this day in age, many people need to understand the differences between these two terms.
Different types of literature open new doors through which students’ can explore the unknown and expand their knowledge of controversial topics. The great examples found in literature have been the subject of much debate, as school boards wrestle with whether children should be allowed to read such difficult, harsh topics, as said in the article “How Banning Books Marginalizes Children” (Source F). There are so many brilliant works of literature spanning a wide variety of genres and topics, and a single school board should not determine what students learn. No one is proposing that second graders read The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, but rather that we intentionally choose literature that will expand, rather than limit, children’s options and minds. Not only do these great works lay the groundwork for our future generation, but they also serve to diversify students’ writing and analysis skills.
Do you think beating children is the way to solve behavioral problems? Would you let a stranger do it? Physical punishment isn’t the right way to solve a child’s behavioral issues. In Olga Khazan’s essay “No Spanking, No Time Out, No Problem” Olga Khazan uses emotion to persuade the parents into manipulating their child’s mind into being positive instead of their usual behavior that consists of negative thoughts.
When many people are behind that thought it may be difficult to change their minds into having weapons inside a school. The schools can be prepared, but there is always someone that is going to outsmart their system or know the system then they would win. If plans were based off of the layout of schools it will be harder for people to outsmart the system (Cummings). Making new plans at schools will take way too long to complete and it will create a weakness in the schools. Even though making a new plan may take a long time it is the best option to prevent school
This book should be taught to High School students across the country, and it should not be a banned book. To Kill a Mockingbird teaches students morals, and ethics. The book is still partially accurate to what some people go through even in today’s world, and what the books reads is still a part of history that should not be covered up and tucked away. To Kill a Mockingbird should still be taught in school systems, and should not be a banned book because the novel focuses on a part of history that should not be ignored.
Sherry goes on and explains why we think it is right to sometimes excuse students who cheat the system because they come from terrible environments, but then goes on to conclude that “most kids don’t put school first on their list unless they perceive something else is at stake.” I think this is why there is a UIL rule at a lot of schools with a “no pass no play” policy. Students who are involved in extracurricular activities then have a reason to strive to pass. Sherry believes that “people of all ages can rise above their problems, but they need a reason to do so.”
If we don’t teach kids about serious topics such as the Holocaust, then they may never become mature enough to handle the content. Teaching kids about serious topics not only informs them of the topic but extends their maturity. They’ll be able to handle mature content because they understand the seriousness. Just because we don’t think kids will be able to get through a lesson without giggling doesn’t mean we should encourage it by not teaching the content. If they learn that they need to respect the topic with all seriousness, then they will.
I think it should me more of a parents responsibilities to teach their children about the good and bad of drugs, and that the parents should teach them when they deem it to be appropriate. Not have schools force children to learn about
Many students that know uniforms will be beneficially, but don’t agree with school uniforms will continue to disagree with implementing them. It can be easily agreed that school uniforms may take away their self-expression in school, but what matters more in school is the way of learning. It can also be agreed that many students do not accept the self-expression of their classmates and make fun of them. Students, parents, and school administration should be able to recognize the benefits that school uniforms come with.
The first reason i think that child soldiers should not be prosecuted is because while kids are young they don 't have much control over what they get to do, lots of kids have to do what their parent or guardian says, and i am sure that when kids get recruited they have no choice but to go. In an article i read said that when a child soldier is recruited that they have no choice but to join. This matches with the story because it explains that kids don’t have a choice but to join when they get recruited. Kids also don’t get to choose what

It’s unfortunate that even in today’s society that institutional racism is something that happens in the everyday life of many people, especially minorities such as African Americans and Hispanics. Koppelman (2014) defines institutional racism as “establish laws, customs, and practices that systematically reflect and produce racial inequities in American society” (Koppelman, 2014, p. 189). There has always been a question of whether standardized testing, in particular the SAT’s, have been fair to minority students. I believe that I am white. Growing up in wealthy suburban town in Massachusetts, surrounded by people that look like me, I never was required to think about my safety, dignity, future, or body through the lens of my race. I learned about slavery, racism, and the Civil Rights era in a classroom with 20 other kids and a teacher who also believed they were white. We learned about these issues as apathetic bystanders. Memorize them; get a good grade on the test.
Internalized racism is the action of someone participating in the contribution of racist actions towards members of their own ethnic group. Internalized racism goes beyond the internalization of stereotypes imposed by the white majority about People of Color. It is the internalization of the beliefs, values, and worldviews inherent in white supremacy that can potentially result in negative self or racial group perceptions (Kohli, Johnson, & Perez, 2006). Internalized racism is not just another form of racism, but a systematic oppression that has its own structure and impact within society. Internalized racism is considered a systematic oppression because it affects groups, rather than solely individuals.
