CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background
English has been an international language which is used and spoken around the world. English becomes the most commonly taught language. It is now taught from young age. Now, children also have the same opportunity in mastering English.
Commonly, English is taught in the formal education institution like schools but today informal education institution has taken a part in spreading English. English course is one of many examples of informal education which has been an option for the students to improve their English skill besides taking formal education in their schools. In both formal and informal education, the students will be provided English language learning.

The specific objectives are:
1. To analyze the method of language teaching that is used by the English course teacher.
2. To analyze the application in applying the language teaching method used by the English course teacher.
1.4 Scope of Discussion Based on the problems which are mentioned before, this study is restricted on several points, they are:
1. Analyzing the method of language teaching which is used by the English course teacher in teaching students. This study is focusing on the method of the English course teacher in giving their students materials and knowledge about English.
2. Analyzing the application in applying the language teaching method used by the English course teacher in giving and guiding the students about the materials. The application is about how the students understand the materials given by the English course teachers through the methods.

Chrisma’s study is aimed to analyze the techniques which are applied by the English teacher in teaching language skills. Chrisma’s study adopted the theory from Mackey (1978: 36). This study is slightly similar with Chrisma’s study. Chrisma’s study also focuses on the problems that are faced by the teachers in teaching language skills.
The sixth study is entitled “English Teaching Techniques applied in SD 5 Saraswati Denpasar” which comes from Putu Eka Surya Adnyani (2004). Adnyani’s study is similar with the previous study which has been reviewed. The similarity is on the focus in which Adnyani’s study analyzes the teaching techniques applied by the teachers in SD 5 Saraswati Denpasar.
The last study to be reviewed is entitled “The Use of Clustering Technique in Teaching Writing Narrative Text (A Quasi-Experimental Study of Tenth Graders in One Senior High School in Bandung)” written by Meliya Adriati (2013). Adriati’s study was conducted to analyze the use of clustering technique in teaching writing narrative text. The research method used in this study was quasi-experimental. Analysis of the goals has determined that resident satisfaction within Berlasco Court Centre regarding meals is far lower than it should be. The goal of providing a level of independence and freedom for the residents is currently not being met either which is supported further below by the requirements from elicitation. The result has suggested that residents are unhappy with the current meal plan system and would like more versatility as well as an ordering system this system also needs to be efficient for nursing and kitchen staff to minimize damaging impact within those two areas. Using this it’s been established that the primary Business Need is providing a system to ensure greater versatility and control over meal plans for residents.
How the content in Chapter 9 may impact how I write/revise my literacy narrative. Chapter 9 deals with methods of analyzing strategies for writing. This chapter entails the benchmarks on how to properly write Introductions, Body paragraphs and Conclusion. Reading this chapter has made me more knowledgeable about these crucial steps. The brilliant information I have aquired from this reading will be used in my revision for my literacy narrative.
Application The fictitious application scenario as a human services counselor for a community service center that is Christian based. At this community service center, it deals with martial affairs. I have been assigned to a married couple Carol and Barb. They have been married for almost ten years now and have two children.

I have learned about brainstorming and gathering ideas on the topic. In addition, I have to comprehend and manage my research and gather information how to achieve my writing or improve my using these techniques in writing. I have able to expand my writing and brainstorming, pre-writing, first draft, rough draft, and final draft in my research experience. This planning in brainstorming will me to achieve faster process and managing the information or ideas about the topic and prepare to for pre-writing. My prewriting strategy is to writing a first draft on a topic that helps the reader to understand from the beginning.
The patterns of organization that are most frequently used by writers are chronological order, spatial order, emphatic order, and causal order. The chronological order means to move through time, spatial order is moving from outside to inside, emphatic order is from least to most significant, and causal order is the effects to causes. These patterns may seem like they’re formals but they are not. They have become discourse conventions because they correlate with the natural thinking processes and they are versatile. The five-paragraph formula seems imperative and causes problems and it should be addressed by writing instructors at all levels and those who have created multiple strategies that share their
Writing is an essential part of an individual’s success. Writing comes in many forms, and it is not only used in an English course. It can be an email to a college professor, a resume, a lab report, a hotel review, etc. There are countless forms are writing, and it is important to understand how to approach each piece of writing. Writing is part of an individual’s daily life, and understanding the importance of rhetorical knowledge, genre knowledge, and audience awareness with make it easier to approach different types of writing, and ultimately improve one’s writing skills.
By implementing literature circle all the students are reading at their level and with people from their level. Forming reading level groups, will help those students that need extra time reading to take their time and be helped by those of their level. Also, it helps advance readers will be challenge with a higher level of vocabulary that will be introduce in the reading. In classes I have observe this method of teacher is implied, but all students are reading the same books. The only different were the reading assignments were modified based on their academic level.
Finally, I began writing about my genre—developmental collaborative writing on a whiteboard—and gave its purpose followed by a few links. These links lead to the descriptions of my genre’s audience, rhetorical factors, structure, and style of writing; with all of the information presented on my website there should be a good enough description of developmental collaborative writing to help my fellow classmates understand what it is.
