Every eighteen seconds, a burglary occurs in the United States and guns is our safest source of protection, guns don 't kill people-people do. This claim is 100 percent absurd. Guns, along with plenty other weapons do kill people. Anyone who thinks otherwise is arrogant and should thoroughly rethink what and who they are endangering with their selfish desires. Guns provide easy access to suicide, encourage violent crimes, and help inhibit many accidental deaths. Everyday, people that suffer from mental illnesses, drive towards committing suicide. Suicide is growing at a disgustingly fast rate, but, if America restrains gun access, it could reduce suicide rates by over one third (washington post.) According to Washington Post, “... in the U.S. 50 percent of suicides are committed with guns.” Thousands of people are leaving their friends and families behind everyday with firearms, and we can stop this. Americans are strong, caring people who would do nearly everything to protect their loved ones. They will fight against anything in order to keep what leaves their friends and families untouched. U.S. President Donald J. Trump response to a shooting in Texas was, “This isn’t a gun situation. This is a mental health problem at the highest level. It’s a very very sad event. A very very sad event, but that’s the way I view it.” This demonstrates another example of someone “pro-guns” saying, Guns don’t kill people- people do. Yes, weapons like guns do require human actions in order to harm, however, the problem is not whether or not guns can do any harm spontaneously. The issue is that guns provide a blisteringly simple way to fulfill the shooters aim.
