In the preparation of the speech, I spent a lot of time doing research and looking at different book on Osaka, Japan. I looked at a lot of different websites and other sources, and I made a whole bunch of notes and then worked them into my speech. In working on the speech I gathered a lot of information which I didn’t use and that was not helpful to my speech. One thing I did in my preparation of my speech, which I should not do again, was I made a rough draft of my speech and then I had a final draft that was on a different document. I should have just made the corrections on the rough draft I had instead of having two different drafts of my speech. The reason why I don’t think I will be doing this is, because I printed my rough draft and turned it in and I did not realize it wasn’t the right draft until after I was already in class. So in the next speech, I hope to only have one draft and do the same amount of research, but have my research be more specifically done. …show more content…
The week of the actual speech I was sick and so things did not go as planned. The notes I made that had what I was going to say and notes on which slide was next, I had forgot them when I came to class. During the practice time I recorded and timed myself, but what I think I should have done was present the speech in front of other people. The most problems I see when I do my speech is that my nerves get a hold of me and makes my voice shake. In the practicing for the speech, I need to perform the speech in front of other
The purpose of my speech was to inform the audience about the four basic chords on the ukulele: the C, Am, F, and the G chords. In my speech, I taught the correct finger placement as well as good tips to getting the best sound out of the instrument. Altogether, I presented the main material as the most important pieces in the speech. The introduction to my speech began with a question.
Giving a speech whether being for the public or not, offers personal, professional, and public benefits for the individual. The individual might find it easier to obtain a profession, build better relationships amongst peers, or even propel social movements by carefully constructing and delivering a well thought out speech. A speech needs to be excellent in order to do such things; it needs to have a clear concise thesis, a preview statement, a great organizational pattern, supporting material, memory, delivery and good representation of oneself. Thus, during the process of constructing and delivering a speech, one must have those aspects. This will ensure the speaker will deliver a powerful and moving speech.
Creon Creon, the king of Thebes, has two very long speeches at the beginning of the play. They each show different sides of his character’s personality. In the first one, he is calm and relaxed, making no effort to be mean or rude to anyone, just expressing his beliefs. In the second one, he is quite rude and disrespectful to the guard, not even trying to believe what he is saying.
After being chosen as the President of National Honor Society, the most active club at my school, one of my duties was inducting the new members each year. I remember the butterflies in my stomach as I looked out at all the NHS members and their parents sitting in the huge auditorium. My principal and head of school were both keenly listening to me speak as I prayed not to stutter on any words. However, with every word that left my mouth, I felt my level of confidence rising. After finishing off strong and hearing the roar of applause, I realized that effective public speaking is a vital leadership skill that I definitely
Here is a prescription not just to be a good speaker, but to be a good man. He recognizes that his training program is arduous, and has no illusions that most will be up to the task. Regarding the actual mechanics of giving a speech, Quintilian offers mountains of practical advice. Among the best bits of wisdom are: 1. Do not write your speech down unless you intend to deliver it verbatim, which will rarely happen.
I am writing to you on the past semester that we 've spent together. I enjoyed taking this class because I think that it helped me improve my writing skills and helped me become a better writer. Before taking this class I didn 't believe to think that I could to be a good writer. But you had a great system with different forms of writings to help conquer me and my fellow classmate’s fears in writing. I enjoyed the short writing assignments the most, because it was entertaining and different.
Tryouts can be seen as a way to tell kids that they’re not good enough to play the sport or they see tryouts as an effect to kids health. Still there are these who would claim that yet, there are those who disagree because it would be too chaotic, it teaches life lessons, and tryouts are an exercise in many sort of ways. Normally kids don’t get the chance to play but it teaches them to keep trying. While tryouts might have a mislead along the kids, there are those who think that there should be tryouts to many sports and schools. One reason that there should be tryouts for many types of sports is that it teaches life lessons in a countless amount of ways.
What I did to prepare for my informative speech was I would go through my speech in my head or just think about what I was going to say. Other things I did to prepare was I did all the required things like the outline and power point, I also did things like making note cards so when I went up there I knew what I wanted or needed to say. I felt a little nervous at first when I went up in front of the class, but as I started my nerves calmed down and then it became easy to just talk to everyone. I started to relax more and I didn’t worry about what I said as much and then I started to rely more on what I knew and I didn’t need my note cards as much.
2.Public speaking is not an easy task for many people. No matter how many times one rehearses their speech for public speaking, on many occasions people fail. One of the difficult aspects when it comes down to public speaking is the lack of confidence. The lack of confidence can lead many people to get nervous and make many mistakes when public speaking. Another mistake that people often make when it comes to public speaking is not dressed appropriate.
I used more gestures that on my last speech, I moved around more, and I maintained eye contact throughout most of the speech. I did smile at the beginning of the speech, but I did not at the end. I also feel that when I went back to my seat I did not leave a good “pow” statement for the class to think about. For my next speech, I could improve my delivery with less exaggerated gestures, and less stuttering. I still need to focus on dynamism and
Being confident shows your audience you are comfortable talking about your topic and that you are well informed on what you are specking of. Another thing that I can improve on is relaxing, for example, to not be so nervous. If I can think two steps ahead before I speak it would prepare me for what I am about to say which will allow my words to flow out smoothly and correctly. I plan on improving these skills by practicing more speeches in front of people and doing some relaxation exercises before my speech. I believe by implementing more speeches and doing some of the exercises, it will have me more relaxed, keep my mind focused and boost up my confidence so that I may present my speech flawlessly for an A plus grade.
I will practice more to gain confidence before giving any speech. It will help me to deliver any speech with more confidence and less stress. Practicing in front of the mirror is one of the ways that helps me to reduce my stress level. Thus, I will remember to look at the audience while speaking instead of looking down in the notes.
In my speech on the defunding of Planned Parenthood I kept a very even tone of voice. I could always understand myself and I thought I did a good job sounding confident speaking in front of an audience, which is something I struggle with. Renan Havill also mentioned that I “spoke clearly and effectively.” The passion I feel about my subject was very evident at times by the way I changed my voice to emphasize certain points I was making. I could definitely improve on keeping an even pace throughout my speech.
I also used my visual aid to help me with speaking points. If I was ever stuck I could always look back to regain my train of thought, these worked similar to notecards. My delivery had its highlights and its lowlights. My volume was good and I kept eye contact for a majority of the speech, only slipping up as a transitioned between notecards. However, I could hear my voice shake throughout the project as well.
As students, presentations are something that is required in most classes yet, students do not see themselves as public speakers. Throughout high school and now in college, I have had to present material in 80 percent of the classes that I have taken. Presenting was, and still is something that I struggle with no matter how big or how small the group is that I am presenting to. I knew that Public Speaking was a required class for me so, rather than putting it off, I decided to go ahead and get it out of the was as soon as possible. Speaking in front of people is out of my comfort zone.
