The war isn’t prominent in the story and most of the characters are untouched by war, but things like rationing of peanut butter and most devastatingly the loss of Holy’s brother Fred, during the war tell us about it. The city is shown prominently in the story. Holly loves the city, Brooklyn bridge, the lights and the river. New York offers and amazing background to the story and it lends the narrative an exciting energy. Much of the story takes place around the apartment that Holly resides in. Holly’s apartment is its own special place. It;s messy, clustered and noisy telling us a lot about her character. The lack of furniture adds to the sense of impermanence. So, the setting is a blend of all these elements. The war, New York, the apartment building and the little things the space represents for the characters

A movie poster is used to pull people in and to make them interested in going to see the movie. The poster for the movie Steel Magnolias, directed by Herbert Ross, simply uses images of the six main female characters. Steel Magnolias is a movie about six women living in the small southern town of Chinquapin Parrish, Louisiana, who share a strong bond of friendship and who must deal with the death of one of one of their friends. The movie reveals the strength and softness of these six women as they deal with the joys and heartaches of life, thus the title Steel Magnolias.

When Richie would write home, he would avoid any questions about the war by asking about things at home and just brushing them off. Not only were the parents and family at home concerned they wanted to know what was happening to their boys. In the book you can feel the agony their families felt, not knowing what they were going through across seas.
1. What do you find is the most crucial in the plot in Chapter 1? I believe that the introduction of Jordan and the great Gatsby are the most crucial to the plot for chapter 1. This is because the Gatsby is the most mysterious character so far(and the book is named after him).
Tom Buchanan is a very supercilious man and, without him in the book there wouldn't be a book. In the book The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Tom Buchanan is an important man who is arrogant and careless. Toms superciliousness leads him to believe that he can do whatever he wants with whomever, in turn, leading his wife to feel like she doesn’t belong with him, thus making her turn to another man. This makes Tom angry with other guys want his wife. Tom’s superciliousness leads to his affair with Myrtle and Gatsby wanting Daisy to his own.
First of all, Paul decides to transfer from Lake Windsor to Tangerine Middle School due to the sinkhole
The Breakfast Club is not in fact a movie about bacon 'n eggs. It’s a coming of age film about five coincidentally different teenagers all linked together by one common element, Saturday detention. At first, they are all close-minded and judgmental of each other until coming to realize they may be from different circles of friends but are not so different in the end. This film is still remarkably relatable to this day. Everyone in this film is in his or her own societal bubbles, but come to understand they are all facing the same problems.
Setting is more than just where a story takes place. In the exposition, Joyce uses personification in his description of where the narrator is living to set the tone for the entire story. “North Richmond Street, being blind, was a quiet street . . . . The houses of the street, conscious of decent lives within them, gazed at one another with brown imperturbable faces” (Joyce 110).
When in the apartment the scenes show the struggles the family faces together. When these situations happen outside of the apartment is makes them seem more like individual journeys or hardships. Leon, the director of the movie might have chose to put major scenes in different locations to make them seem more important. When an entire story takes place in one setting it can be hard to differentiate what is
1. Characters- Some of the main characters that appear in this book are Massie, Chirag, Serena, Adam, and Maureen. In most of the book Massie and Chirag date, but after Massie’s accident things aren’t the same. 2. Background- One morning Massie goes out for her usual run.
The setting in every book is crucial because it is what gives the book a more personal feel for the reader. “A Rage in Harlem” by Himes is an excellent example of how prominent a descriptive settings are to the visualization of the reader. The setting in each book moves around to establish the plot of the novel. In “A Rage in Harlem”, it explains each lace that the character is in very well and helps with the movement of the book. The three best places in the novel “A Rage in Harlem” to show the movement of the plot are Jackson’s apartment, Goldie’s ‘office’, and the police station.
Some of the most important places in the book are the Renegades Headquarters,Nova’s above ground home, the Anarchist’s subway tunnels, and the Cloven Cross Library. The tone and mood of the story is very futuristic because of all the technological advances that they have in the story and it also makes it feel like New York since it is such a big city and many parts to it.
Limited for most of the time to two sets, the film 's great strength is the interplay between the two leads, who play former spouses having a tough time remaining apart. It also boasts one of the blackest comedy situations ever, as a small-time loser finds himself up against city corruption and imminent execution. Clever, witty and extremely satisfying, this marvelous film is still achingly funny
