Roosevelt said this inspiring quote about the tragic event that occurred in Oahu, Hawaii. Many people have debated about who really was to blame for Pearl Harbor, could Roosevelt have done something to prevent it?
When I was in third grade, I was diagnosed with a medical condition that required me to go to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh multiple times per month. It was boring, annoying, and sometimes painful. I never enjoyed going and that didn’t change as I got older. But when I just started going, I was very sick. Between the one hundred two-degree fever I had and the amount of blood they had to take out of me for tests, I felt miserable.
After his postwar career he became an editor with a book publishing house in New York. This book is a fairly easy read and can be considered to booksellers as a book for younger teens to read. This book is filled with with many historical facts about leading up to the battle and during the battle. The first half of the book is filled with details about the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor and the battle of the Coral Sea.

Each speech has considerable facts. Lincoln’s speech obtains several facts such as it was given after the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863, it is the most famous speech from history, and Fifty thousand people died. The “Pearl Harbor, Day of Infamy” speech was given in 1941 in Hawaii, after a surprise attack from the Japanese, and twenty six thousand casilites.
Pearl Harbor was a devastating time for americans. The attack was located around the West coast, were the Japanese invaded the American territory. In this time we have to defend ourselves. ”But when under conditions of modern warfare, our shores are threatened by hostile forces, the power to protect must be commensurate with the threatened danger....(Black,1944).” So in this time we used our defensive power when we are threatened by danger.

Winston Churchill, the Prime Minister of Britain, was at the request of France for aid for the Germans had broken through the French defenses. It was up to Churchill to tell his nation what was at stake as well as tell them what must be done to keep Europe out of the claws of the Germans. Franklin D. Roosevelt, the president of United States of America, was in his second term of the presidency when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941.
On December 7th of 1941, an attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese changed the course of history of the United States and the world. This attack on an American naval facility claimed a staggering 2,403 lives and wounded 1,178 others forcing the United States’ formal entrance into World War II. I was very fortunate to visit and participate in a South Washington County ISD 833 group band performance at this historic site, in honor of the 75th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack. While visiting this monument, I learned about the significance of this International aggression on the American soil. This attack symbolized a threshold point for Americans from just offering support to the Europeans to becoming actively involved in the war.

It is the day Japan deliberately attacked the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii killing many U.S. soldiers and destroying a lot of the U.S. naval fleet. This day which turned the tide of World War II, up until this point the U.S. had not chosen to intervene in the conflict overseas, but Japan’s attack had given the U.S. a reason to enter the fight. Roosevelt on December 8th, 1941 was his own passionate plea to the U.S. government and people to support the U.S. entering the war and fighting back against the tyranny occurring overseas. President Franklin D. Roosevelt effectively appeals to the emotions of the U.S. population by establishing trust with his audience through the use of emotional diction, and repetition which allow him to rally support for the war effort.

This attack is what persuaded President Franklin Roosevelt to join World War 2 and fight on two fronts. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor for many reasons. They attacked because they believed they would create a New World Order, they felt threatened by America and because of the oil embargo.
