Space exploration is considered a waste of time mainly due to the expenses that it requires. It is often ignored and becomes impecunious due to other problems that already exist on Earth. However, space exploration pays itself in the future because many inventions were created due to space exploration such as 3D printers, scratch resistant lenses, firefighting equipment, chemical detection, and much more. Space exploration also gives us a bigger idea of what space really is, and can prove or disprove many theories helping, us understand space. With many industries trying to explore space such as Boeing, SpaceX, NASA, Blue Origin, and Bigelow Aerospace, there would be job opportunities for people if only these companies had the money to do so. Increasing government funding for space exploration will result in more jobs, discovering potential resources and better technological advancements.
Space exploration is worth the investment because it creates better technology that is useful for us, even on Earth. Space exploration has been beneficial to society without us even knowing that some inventions were created due space exploration such as fire fighting equipment and phone cameras (Spector, 2012). Space exploration has made life easier for everyone, and we would not be so advanced without it. We could be much more advanced if space companies had more money to use. The article by Spector shows us the technology that space exploration has caused such as long distance
One form of technology that was developed was the Astrolabe. “The Mariner’s Astrolabe was used to determine the latitude of a ship at sea.” (Doc2.) Another form of technology were the caravels. Caravels were small ships that can go faster and they were closer to shore.
B. Week 3: Standard 1.1b: How advances in technology lead to an increase in exploration. This topic will be linked with the Social Studies theme of science, technology, and society. Given a blank piece of paper the student will be able to list three changes that improved the ships’ functions and abilities for the longer voyages with 100% accuracy. This assessment is at the end of the outline. The next portion of the packet we will work on is Sir Francis Drake.
“Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude” - Thomas Jefferson. This quote is most notably upheld by famed astronomer and astrophysicist Neil Degrasse Tyson, who pushes through each day with the goal of not only doing his best for the good of science, but for the common good of the people. His achievements involving things like recording information found by the Hubble Telescope and other large scientific missions have thrust the country forward in terms of knowledge and innovation. After examining the life of Neil Degrasse Tyson, one could only admit the impact he has made on modern society because of his scientific achievements and his selfless desire to teach the general public not only to learn about space, but to be curious about everything, has been astronomical.
The issues of racial discrimination and segregation were prevalent in the United States during the twentieth century. Jim Crow laws dominated the South, and African Americans were often denied opportunities that were freely available to whites. While there were unresolved domestic issues, the Space Race between the United States and the Soviet Union was prioritized by the United States government. Although commonly denied important, well-paying jobs, several African Americans working for NACA and NASA ended up holding major positions in and making substantial contributions to their space programs. NACA and NASA were socially progressive institutions for their time because they valued intellectual capability over societal limitations on minorities.
It influenced Canadian citizens’ lives a lot, simulating the cooperations with other counties and it also benefited the world a lot as well. Innovations could bring people a better life. Indeed, the high-tech products and new technology coming from the Space Race period did make the Canadian people’s lives much more handy as well as it objectively increased the self-confident of being a
Should we spend taxpayer money to invest in the space program? The space program is a program to pioneer the future in space exploration. The program has consumed about 18.4 billion dollars on trying to explore the barren and empty place they call space. This money that 's used on this space exploration comes from our taxpayers.
The Space Race had an enormous impact on the way people viewed the world and changed the way the United States approached education. Science and math began to be encouraged in schools, NASA was founded and saw a massive increase in funding within nine years, and scientific achievements were more common than ever before. The Race took place between 1957 and 1975, and the world saw a large amount of technological and scientific advancements during this time. Ten years after The Cold War had started, the Soviet Union decides to launch their first satellite called Sputnik into space. In fear of the Soviets taking control of space, the United States scrambles to put a rocket of their own into space.
29 June 2014. Author, journalist, and filmmaker, Piers Bizony in his side of the article “For and Against:Space Exploration” argues that the exploration of space is not a waste of funds, and should continue to fund it. He supports this claim by explaining the benefit of continuing to fund them and their mission. Mr.Bizony next proceeds to show they ensure not only the improvement but also the development of technology, among companies
Space has helped hone the skills of scientist. By using satellite technology for space, they were able to use the same concept for Earth. Even with all the benefits of space, its major down falls are cost, risks, and low chances of reward for their efforts. Many space explorations cost fortunes with little to come out of it, making it almost seem not worth it. The risk is another key factor, with little known about the majority of space, many outliers can appear out of nowhere and can cause death to anyone that happens to be working up there.
I decided to study the technologies used in the Apollo missions. I came across the obvious ones such as the relationship between the Moon and Earth, the surface of the Moon, and the idea that the Moon and the Earth are genetically related. The Apollo missions brought in many accomplishments for NASA. They were able to bring hundreds of pounds of lunar samples to Earth as well as shaping the way for many other scientific advances. One of the technologies that stood out to me was the advancements in space food.
This paper has given evidence of the benefits that were created through space exploration to contribute to education, culture, innovations, and new ways to address global challenge Space exploration gives educational and cultural purpose by filling a need to know the world, answer questions about our life and the nature of the Universe, and to enlarge the idea of what it is to be human. Because space exploration gives huge global investment and international partnerships, and because of its challenging nature, demands to develop the cutting edge technical capabilities needed, it gives opportunities to answer some of the global challenges today. When nations work together on space missions, this enlarges international cooperation into space. It gives interests and forges relationships that help make peace between nations.
We learned to monitor orbiting astronauts- pioneering telemedicine & leading to unprecedented improvements in patient monitoring”(Fowler, 1). Funding for space exploration could help physicians go into space, test materials, bring them back (if promising), and use them on patients. Also adding to that, “ We would be a much more healthy planet and society, if we stopped warring with each other and wasting precious minerals that we have on this Earth -on- war, we would have more resources to spend on more important things such as daily
I. Introduction a. Now let me tell you one thing, are you satisfied with how our world is. If we were to stop all research and development of new technologies, would that sit well with you? I am not ok with this because I for see a vast and great future for our nation and this future is set to begin in the stars. Our nation the United States needs to boost its efforts in the exploration of outer space and as well as be the front runner in this pursuit for new knowledge. b.
What does make human mission to Mars beneficial? NASA unveiled their scheme of manned expedition to Mars by 2030, and it added fuel to the controversy of the question: Should humans explore to Mars instead of rovers or not. It goes without saying that manned expedition is more risky and needs billions of money. However, human exploration to the Red planet excels in its several benefits. Therefore, this essay will demonstrate three aspects of positive result of manned expedition; social changes, capability of human skills and step toward human settlement on Mars.
