The leader should be determined till the end results no matter what the result is. It is the leaders’ duty to be determined in setting the goals, implementing them and achieving them. He should have belief in his principles and values. Also he should motivate others to work with full determination and it is only a determined leader who can inculcate the feeling of “yes we can achieve it” in its team
Peter Drucker once said “Effective leadership is not about making speeches or being liked; leadership is defined by results not attributes”(BrainyQuote). Indeed, many leaders enjoy being popular. But popularity is not the most important trait in a leader; people should look at a leader’s results rather than his/her ability to speak. In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, many characters have the potential to be leaders. Yet, judging from his characteristics, Piggy would be the best candidate for leadership.
Staying determined and never giving up is key to being a great leader, once you have done everything to help somebody as a leader then it is up to them but never give in before the job is
Being a leader is the ability to motivate and inspire. Like, Odysseus who traveled for 20 years after the Trojan War and tries to return to Ithaca while facing many challenges. Also, like Martin Luther King Jr who gave powerful protests and speeches to persuade and express his ideas to his followers. These two leaders show many qualities that make a good leader. Leadership qualities such as wisdom, self-control, and bravery support a good leader.
A leader that demonstrates all these skills will be able to maintain positive relationships with others and will be a successful leader. To get followers that trust, look up to, and continue to follow is a successful leader. Leadership is a practice that can learned, and not necessarily an inborn skill. It can be developed through self-awareness and self-discovery. I know with myself, when I became a nurse I had to learn to be more assertive and confident, and never thought of my self as a charge nurse.
A leader must be willing and ready to not only give orders but receive them. The group cannot thrive with a leader who does not adore what they do. The leader must be devoted and excited about what they do. A leader can have respect from every single member of the group but without the
Leadership is the ability to exercise decisiveness, initiative, and charisma under pressure. Decisiveness is vital to leading because many decisions will have to be made on behalf of the group/organization you lead. Initiative is important because many people have something to contribute, but little will get done unless someone steps up and takes charge of the situation. Charisma is also a necessary part of leadership because no one can lead if there is no one to lead. To have followers, a leader must have a great charismatic personality, encouraging others and being a likable person in general.
“If you want to become a great leader, you need to prepare yourself to become a great leader, and the best way to do that is to study great leaders.” (Schembechler 7). Being a leader means defining and exhibiting moral and ethical courage and setting an example for everyone within any given group. Being a leader helps you teach leadership skills to your family, friends, and employees who will then help do the "heavy lifting" of moving the masses from where it is today to where it needs to be in the future. In today's day in age, people will believe that great leaders are born to lead.
First and foremost, leaders come in all shapes and forms, there is not one set physical mold for them, but what they all do share are certain characteristics and desires. Leadership in and of itself, is the ability to guide others, take responsibility, and share a vision that inspires and leaves others with a sense of empowerment. Evidently, it takes an exceptional leader to exhibit exceptional leadership skills. Additionally, the most prominent act that all adequate leaders demonstrate is that they are steadily engaged in enhancing their leadership skills. There have been various magnificent leaders throughout history, such as Martin Luther King Jr., Sojourner Truth, Nelson Mandela, and Eleanor Roosevelt.
What Makes an Effective Leader? There are leaders all around you and you probably did not even know it. A leader is a person who leads or commands a group, organization, or country. This could be parents, teachers, or the president of a country.
A good leader inspires his team with good ethics, encouragement, trust, commitment and overall sense of wellbeing. Leading by example is in fact a reality. A team that is led by a most creative and innovative leader with an aim to succeed will in fact be successful if that leader has the will and know how to make that team operate in one accord. Peterson (1961), in his book,
Leaders who inspire and motivate others are effective at
Martin Luther King used all his gained experience, all the suffering, dreams and skills and turned it into the leadership. We have natural leader qualities and attributes that make us unique and that drive or motivate us. The only thing is that we need to use
Leadership has been defined in a variety of ways, there are multiple authors and theorists who have tried to define and understand leadership, all leading to varying theories and conclusions, but one thing that is universally understood is the importance of effective leadership and how someone with good leadership skills can impact so many people around them. (Kakabadse and Kakabadse, 1999; Yukl, 2002; Northouse,2013) The main components that have been identified to play a role in leadership are relations between leader and subordinates, interaction form between leader and followers, the influence that the leader has, the way in which the leader behaves and finally a leader’s traits. (Yukl, 2002) These elements that make up a leader, are then used as building blocks to identify the way in which each specific leader deals with its followers.
A leader is someone who takes initiative and leads the group. A true leader doesn’t try to lead, they just do. A leader is effective in whatever they might be doing. Leaders have a significant role in the community; without our great pool of leaders, from all corners of our lives, our country would most likely be headed into a downhill spiral.
Effective leaders bring out the best in others: A great leader leverage off the best qualities from the people around them and challenge them to improve with confidence to achieve their personal goals. 2. The best leaders inspire with their words and actions: Great leaders lead by example and would not expect others to do what they are not prepared to do themselves. They appeal to people’s emotions, using images, stories, metaphors, and other ways that move people to action in achieving common goals. 3.
