Learning Management System
LMS’s are websites or programs that are self-contained with instructional tools that are inserted in the system. These tools give the teacher an opportunity to organize academic data and engage student learning. These instructional tools include some of the following: gradebooks, files, discussion boards, announcements, email, assignments and multimedia. LMS grants access to student centered instruction, evaluation of students’ assessments and the ability to manage and modify course content (Gautreau, 2011).

These tools allow the user to easily author e-learning systems with familiar selections. In lots of cases, authoring tools have allowed untrained users to begin developing their own learning tasks within minutes of usage (ADL Instructional Design Team, 2014). Authoring tools do not help teachers with the planning or developing of lesson curriculum, but rather help them develop a platform in which to deliver the task (Ogrady-Marshall, 2013). An example of an authoring system is a program called Brainshark. This web- based program gives the user the ability to easily create video presentations. Brainshark also allows interactive voice overs to powerpoint, documents, and photos which is currently free to educators (SoftChalk, 2013). One way to use authoring tools in the classroom is through the use google classroom. Many classrooms are starting to use and develop lessons using features found in google classroom. This would be a great way to utilize the functions found in Brainshark. When using videos, PPT’s, and documents in your google classroom, create voice overs to enhance student understanding and specific areas in the lesson that are vital for student
