In my estimation success as a teacher is primarily dependent upon two qualities: on the one hand the professional skill, and on the other hand the ability to inspire learners. Working as a foreign language assistant (FLA) in the US can be considered as the ideal opportunity to refine one’s qualities in those realms. Concerning the professional skill, actually living in an English-speaking environment offers the best chance to perfect the language facility I have acquired during my studies. And all of the experiences, encounters and discoveries of an Anglophone country with its culture, its people and its nature provide a background for future teachers that can be shared, thus firing pupils with enthusiasm and motivation.

In spite of being in a subordinate, assisting role, I would like to take on responsibility for the learning progress and offer support for learners with special needs in order to take some of that load off the teacher’s shoulders. To me, successful language learning heavily depends on communication in the target language. Therefore I would also like to offer projects or extracurricular activities that promote conversations. Besides, I personally believe that teaching assistants represent German culture and can, at the same time, make their contribution towards spreading the image of a democratic and open-minded Germany that strongly opposes radical right-wing and inhuman …show more content…
There I was not only able to apply my knowledge, but to also review, scrutinise and adjust my teaching methods. I would really like to incorporate my enthusiasm for the German culture, language, literature and art into the lessons and thereby provide motivating incentives to the learners. As I have already lived in Southern Germany and in Berlin and got to spend holidays at many different places all around Germany, I feel qualified to familiarize the students with the diversity of my homeland. Beyond the valuable personal experiences and impressions that living abroad brings along, I specifically hope to become acquainted with different pedagogical concepts that are typical for the US. Besides, I am intrigued with gaining deep insights into aspects of didactics and pedagogics that do not stem from the German educational culture. In doing so I intend to align newly gained experiences with already existing concepts of good teaching. I am particularly interested in the quality of inclusion as well as in the utilised learning material. Last but not least the role of teachers in general presents a captivating learning field to me. In summary, I fondly hope that working as a teaching assistant in the US will enrich those realms and
Applying to be a resident assistant is one of the best and most rewarding decisions that I made in college. Without my experiences in Residence Life, my college experience would not have been as rich as fulfilling. I was a freshmen women’s RA for my first two years as an RA and I always look back fondly over that time. Although there was definitely a lot of struggles and conflicts that occurred in my freshmen modules, that’s really where my heart is. Over my past three years as an RA, I have always been interested in hearing about and learning about the experiences of other freshmen women RAs.
Every dime I earn working at Reynolds Community College and every grant and scholarship I receive will go towards my passion of studying human behavior and applying everything I learn to bringing every community I can reach, a giant leap forward. After receiving my associates degree in Social a Science I decided to take a year off to work towards finding what it is that I really want to pursue. I have searched for that 'something ' that will keep me intrigued and awake all hours of the night without realizing it. I have eliminated the idea of simply working to make ends meet or finding a good job to support my family and "living" outside the 40+ hours of a weekday job. I am pursuing much more and I am confident that I have found a path leading me to wake up before my alarm clock sounds instead of praying for more time.
Knowing their needs is important to adapt the practices and to respect them as individuals. According to the author (Raymond, 2012), the perception of the students about the services they receive determine the outcome of the education efforts. For that, the teachers ' role is to guarantee that the student does not feel inferior, unequal, wich would be the negative conotation of the special education placement (Raymond, 2012). Instead of focusing on their difficulties, teachers should focus on reducing the gaps with more inclusive
Even before applying for work, I enrolled in the local college and began taking ESL courses. I was amazed at the golden opportunities that this country offered its’ students. I often hear the citizens complain about tuition fees and transportation costs, but I considered myself fortunate when I compared the costs with the colleges and universities at my homeland. I soon learned that I could obtain financial aid to cover my tuition and receive grants. I was given every opportunity to thrive academically and, I was ready to embrace each one of them with great joy and pleasure.
I want to become an assistant principal for one simple reason, the children. I believe that all children can learn under the right conditions. With this in mind, I feel that instructional leaders are responsible for ensuring that the conditions for learning are embedded in the school’s culture. Although my role as a Learning Team Facilitator enables me to have an impact on the academic achievement of students through working with teachers, I believe that becoming an assistant principal will help me to be more of a driving force throughout the school. I possess several personal attributes that are essential in serving in the capacity of an assistant principal.

Language-rich environments include the home, school and the places children visit. Teaching assistant could set up and maintain the classroom environment; support the parents and carers with the advice and resources for using at home; and the teaching assistant could assist the children on
In my professional studies assignment, I examined research on the effectiveness on teaching assistants. As a parent the support my son has had from teaching assistants has been extremely positive. He was during primary school, three years behind his peers in Year 2, however by Year 6 he gained a Level 5 in both Maths and Science and Level 4 In English. I also observed during my teaching practices, teaching assistants deployed in several effective ways, such as helping in managing behaviour; making notes and observations about children to aid report writing. Supporting lower ability and EAL children during mental and oral starters; giving assistance in independent work and providing further explanation and visual aids to support understanding.
The first observation was conducted on August 30th at 9:00 a.m., while the student was participating in the special education resource room. The observation took place for a total of 25 minutes. For the duration of the observation the student was seated at a small table working one-on-one with the special education teacher. Along with the student being observed and the special education teacher, two other students, as well as, two paraprofessionals were in the special education resource room during the observation time. One student and paraprofessional were working one-on-one at a small table, while the other student was sitting in a bean bag chair reading a book.
(1) Describe the benefits to individuals of engaging in learning or development activities The benefits to individuals of engaging in learning activities are countless. This is something deeply true for everybody, for people with learning disabilities who, somehow, might benefit the most from those kinds of opportunities, for children and young individuals who have to learn in order to face life and actually survive, to adults because learning is the key to defeat several kinds of mental problems and to keep our brains active and in good working health. And least but not last it is an excellent activity for us, support staff and carers, because it keeps us more aware of what is going on, allow us to better understand our clients and be more compassionate towards them and furthermore, it is also through learning that we can develop new ways to help our clients and provide high quality standards care. And it also helps with the aging process and coping, if not preventing several psychological and mental health issues.
Dear Dr. Cathleen Moore and the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, I would like to be considered for your Graduate Teaching Assistant position that was posted on 10/31/2017. I believe that I would be a great fit for this position due to my experiences as a teacher and my academic background in psychology. One reason I would be a great fit for this position is because I once held what seems to be a nearly identical position in college. At Southern Illinois University (SIU), I served as an undergraduate Teaching Assistant for Introduction to Psychology under the tutelage of Dr. Meera Komarraju. In this position, I led a discussion section for a similar number of students that were mostly at the freshmen and sophomore level.
In order to become certified teacher there are multiple steps that need to be completed in order to reach teacher status. Understanding how to educate a child with a disability is important. The importance of teaching a child with a disability is knowing their strength and weakness, educating yourself about the disability, and coming up with a plan of action. There are other challenges that come with becoming a teacher and having a large class. Being a teacher at an elementary school has so many positive opportunities.
Henry Ford once said, “Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress. Working together is success” (Brainy Quote). From here, the concept of inclusive education, including students with and without learning disabilities as peers in the same classroom, originated. The aim of this type of education is to get students with learning disabilities involved in the society. Teachers and fellow students will also provide help for students with disabilities; in this way, students with learning disabilities will be motivated to study as they feel that they are a part of a group instead of being isolated in special places.

I believe as teachers of English language we first get our understanding of the English teaching methods and techniques that would later affect our decisions about teaching our own students long before than official academic training begins. In fact, I, as a non-native speaker of English language, have spent at least twelve years learning it, which also means twelve years observing my teachers’ methods and strategies. Therefore, I would first like to describe my experience as a learner of English, then proceed with describing my personal teaching experience and conclude with a reflection on how these influences shaped my beliefs about language and language learning. Traditionally, teacher in Russia is regarded as an authority figure, and learners tend to rely on them to a large extent, therefore approaches that Russian professors adopt are mostly
