One reason why there shouldn’t be year round school is because kids need a break from school. Summer gives kids a break off their brains. A longer summer would let kids do what they want and time on there own. Lots of kids have to get up really early for school and so when it’s summer they can sleep in and make up for all of the time that they had to get up early for. This is happening in Johnston Iowa and they chose to expand. They are building a new high school that has an estimated cost of $81 million dollars. Usually this is the solution people think of when there is overcrowding. However what if there was a solution that could help save the town a ton of money! Well there is, and it is year round schooling.

Many schools have switched to year round schooling. In fact, there are 3,181 schools in the Michigan. With that 10% of those schools are public schools. Also, many schools with year round school have had high test scores and better rates. In year round school kids are showing more success and more understanding. When considering the choice of whether, schools should convert to year round schooling or not, the choice should definitely be schools should not convert to year round schooling. A few reasons schools should not convert to year round schooling is because students can even forget something they learned, in a short period of time, and then the teachers would have to reteach the same topic, which is extremely frustrating. The students would also spend less time with their family, because they don’t have the traditional summer break. Not only that, but it causes parents more stress to have to plan ahead of time for how they were going to take care of their children whenever they had breaks (which were very frequent). The 3 months of summer break requires your brain to focus on activities like basketball, video games, or swimming. 3 months of focusing can alter your brain and make you lose some of that information you learned over the school year. When students come back from long breaks, such as summer, they can’t even remember what math is. This is because having more of these long breaks gives pupils a lengthy span of time to do nothing.
