Anesthesiologist Career Goals

When I contemplate why I want to pursue a career in the medical field, I picture my high school allied health class where my enthusiasm for the field first started and I became a Certified Nursing Assistant. I have been around hospitals and doctor’s growing up, but that class opened my eyes to a new world. To learn extensive amounts about the healthcare field and have the opportunity to gain clinical experience has no comparison, to be able to learn hands on at that age, and know that I wanted to care for patients. To see all those elderly residents, to experience helping them and showing them compassion, it made my day, every day I was there. I knew that I wanted to be a doctor since early high school. Experience in a hospital and clinic setting, both personal and professional, have given me many reasons to pursue medicine. Through these viewpoints, I have gained an understanding of patient hardships like financial and travel issues, the grief associated with loss, and the trust that accompanies putting yourself or a loved one into the hands of physicians. These experiences have built empathy and compassion in me that is necessary in medicine.

I have always, like my dad, wanted to major in something in the medical field. Another reason why I want to become a nurse practitioner is that I have always had a passion about helping others. With this job I can communicate with the patients in their times of intense physical and mental sufferings. For example, If my patients are scared of getting a surgery, I could educate them that surgery is not always a bad choice. I would explain the procedure of the operation in a way that they could fully comprehend. In doing this, I can ease of their fear. It is immensely important to be able to translate the potentially frightening experience of surgery into the vastly beneficial procedure it is. A suitable career for my goals would be one that is rewarding. I would want my career to help people and be beneficial to the world. I would also like a career that is hands on and exciting. A CRNA career interests me because every day is different and this job is helping save lives and get patients through surgery comfortably and safely.

I have worked with medical students who come from the UA COM-P culture and I believe they bring a great amount of cultural awareness to their role on the healthcare team.  The focus of early clinical exposure at UA COM-P makes a significant difference in learning how to care for people. Becoming an Anesthesia Assistant would allow me to work as a healthcare professional, help people in their time of need, and have an increasingly dynamic career. I know that my attention to detail, creativity, and critical thinking capacity developed over years working in the medical field make me an ideal candidate for the Master’s of Medical Science in Anesthesiologist Assistant program at Emory University. As my life progresses, I have created a desire for a profession that offers a varied assortment of opportunities. It has always been my passion to care for people. I would like to take my passion for nursing to a higher educational and professional level. My career goal and dream is to become a nurse practitioner for geriatric patients with an emphasis in palliative/hospice care. Through the years, I have been able to make advances toward my dream.

I have always found happiness in helping others ever since I was a little girl. Helping other people when they truly need it the most is one of the most satisfying accomplishments. Again, ever since I was a child, I've always wanted to be a nurse; however, it wasn't until a year or two ago that I discovered information about certified registered nurse anesthesists. Since that discovery, I have been extremely interested with nurse anesthesists. Nurse anesthesists are responisible for keeping their patient pain-free and alive while they are in their care. I think I would do really well as a certified registered nurse anesthesist because I absolutely love helping other people and I believe I would really be a benefit to the hospital I work at and the patients I encounter. Ever since I can remember I have always wanted to make a difference and help anyone in need that I possibly could. From the start of my childhood, I can recall helping my mother care for my great grandparents, so they would be able to live out the rest of their lives from their home, instead of in a nursing home. As a young child it was extremely difficult to live with and watch my loved ones deteriorate as they got older, as their condition got worse and worse, and saw my mother having a difficult time keeping up with caring for both of my great grandparents 24/7, it put a lot of stress on the family. However, I am grateful to have been able to help my mother care for them. Growing up in such a caring and loving household made the situation

Everyone wants to be successful in their careers. Many want careers that make money and that has a personal meaning. By being an anesthesiologist, one can get paid well and save lives, but first one has to be successful. Getting a good education, finding a place to work and gaining experience in one’s career leads one to be successful at their job.

Specifically, I have known what I want to do as a career for the past 12 years. Since I was five, I have always wanted to be a neurosurgeon as a result of an experience in church and my love for helping others. I vividly remember an experience in church a long time ago where I had asked my mother what was wrong with the boy in front of me who seemed to be acting abnormal and my mother had told me that the child most likely had some type of cerebral problem. At that moment, I declared, “One day, I am going to help people like him so that they can live normal lives”. If that isn’t a sign from God, I do not know what is. Ever since then, I have been planning my quest to eventually become a neurosurgeon. This includes my involvement in community service activities as they have exemplified my love for helping others. These activities have pushed me to become a neurosurgeon because there is something special in helping those less fortunate than me. Furthermore, I personally feel as if medicine is the best medium in order to express this

Growing up surrounded by several people in the medical field, I had always pondered what I would be when I grew up. When I was about eight years old, I was determined to grow up and be a cardiologist, just like my uncle. At a young age, I was fascinated by the heart, it interested me that one thing controlled so much in the human body. However that dream changed as I grew older, as much as I would love being the one to save someone’s life, I realized that responsibility was entirely too much for me. I have had many different dreams about my future; such as being a basketball player, a teacher, and even a model. It was only when my grandmother was diagnosed with brain cancer and she lost her ability to walk and do several things on her own. Seeing my grandmother fight a battle with cancer, trying to get stronger and stay motivated made me want to help people such as my grandmother.

Health care is my passion and my focus that why I work for Kaiser Permanente, where patient-Centered care is delivered.

One of my future goals and the most important one is to become a doctor. It is my life dream, and the only thing I am seeking for. Doctor is someone capable to save and help others life in ways that are not possible in other careers. Being a doctor for me is not just like any job, it is achieving a dream I have since I was 6 years old. One of the main reasons I picked this major is my family; my family members are almost all doctors, and my dad too. I have been growing up seeing my dad as a doctor, and he really loves his job, so automatically I got it from him. Many people pick this major to make money, but my dad always says, “This job is not for making money as much to help people and save their lives”. He taught me that people don’t have to pay to check their health, if they are not able to pay it is not a problem, you do your job as you should do and he always say if you care about money in this career, you won’t be successful at it. That is how I initially begun picking this major.
