EFL: EFL is an acronym for “English as a Foreign Language” and specifically refers to those students who are learning to speak, read, and write English in a context in which the English language is not used as a means of wider communication (Nichols, 2014). Contrast with ESL/English as a Second Language, the students/language learners are assumed to never using EFL as a communication tool in their environment. Whereas, students in non English-speaking countries have ESL might be surrounded by English in their daily life.

Therefore, considering the perception individually will lead to a clearer conclusion in the end of the research. A mixed-method approach will be used which will collect both quantitative and qualitative data. Such data will help to interpret and to expand our understanding of the complexity of student perceptions of grammar. The result of this study will be in both quantitative and qualitative forms which will lead us to achieve a richer picture of perceptions.
Participants
The participants in this study are 8th grader students in Satya Wacana Christian Junior High School in Salatiga. There are three classes of 8th grader students, thus, I will limit the total participant by 15 students per class. The English teachers’ assistance in Satya Wacana Christian Junior High School is needed to give their selection of my participants. The sampling are including the students with higher and lower motivation toward English subject or high and low academic achievements based on the teachers’ testimonial. These students, aged 13 to 14 years old; most of them speak Bahasa Indonesia as their first and preferred language, and can thus be characterized as EFL students. The study will take place in the regular English class in the school. This research will be conducted since Satya Wacana Christian Junior High School is well-known of having students who are doing great in English competitions each

Factors can exist in in the perceiver, the target, or the situation. For example, when you look at your target, your interpretation of what you see is influenced by your personal characteristics (Book pg.153). Things that are important to you matter in these situations and the context in which perceptions are interpreted have an impact. I also believe that stereotypes play a factor in this as well. Being African American, I know many of times I have experienced situations where on the job that sly remarks have been made or actions have been displayed towards me.

I observed the ELL class on Friday October 11th, 2015. The observation was done at Strawberry Point School in the Mill Valley District for 30 minutes with three English Learners from Kindergarten, which one child is Danish and two children are Koreans. I spoke with Monica who is the person responsible for the ELL program at this school. • What placement options are available to ELLs in the district?
Often, the way we perceive something is altered or controlled by someone/something. Like mentioned earlier, we have our more ordinary influences, like social norms/expectations. But in many cases our perception is tailored. In Brave New World, the Government had complete control over the society's perception. The Government did this by only allowing people to see what they wanted them to see, and not really supporting personal perception.
In addition, it can be used to compare self-perception and the perception of others which can result in productive discussions that lead to new insights. TODAYS TEAM
E.g Individuals are more likely to be accursed if they are a different race to the eyewitness testifier. This indicates that individuals are able to reshape, construct scenarios based on stereotypical believes unlike psyical or photographic evidence which is a relabel source to correctly use as a credible source of evidence. This is displayed in Allport and Postman experiment in 1947. Participants were asked to recall the opposite picture, participants were morvlikey to report a black male but this is incorrect as the image shows a white individual.
This process of perceiving something is a truly complex one that is often shaped by individual fixed opinions regarding various issues. Hence, it is possible for two people to look at the same object and still manage to perceive it in wholly different ways. Occasionally, there are various aspects that contribute themselves to a more fixed sort of perception than others, even if there will be some differences as a result of individual characteristics and cognitive
The United States is a place of freedom. We are a mixing pot that unifies as one. Many religions, cultures, and languages make their home in the Unites States. Many foreigners see the U.S. as an opportunity to seek better lives and education, but when it comes to foreigners and native-born non-English speakers that do not yet know English, it becomes a little more difficult to go about an average day let alone make a better future. Children in school often become English Language Learners, or ELL, to assimilate to the American standards.
In this essay I will write about the strengths and weaknesses of perception as a way of knowing. Perception is the way we perceive the world through our senses. We use all five of our senses, which are sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch to understand the world and interpret it. We can then say it’s a Primary way of knowledge. We can also say that, because the senses is the way our body communicates, we have at least three more senses: kinesthetic sense, which is our awareness of our body’s dimensions and movement; vestibular sense, which is the awareness of the human’s balance and spacial orientation; and organic sense, which is the manifest of the internal organs (for example, hunger or thirst).
Learning a second language at a younger age is beneficial Most little kids first day of school is when they are approximately five years old, and about to enter kindergarten. Kids go to school from about age five till graduation from high school at about age eighteen. Most schools focus on the basic core subjects, such as math, reading, science and history. Until junior high or high school, foreign language is not even offered.
We had many class discussions that brought on a few arguments, however I was so interested to hear everyone’s ideas on grammar. My Pedagogical Grammar class helped me to see my views on grammar and how I wanted to teach my students. While the traditional method of teaching grammar is important,
