Socail Media Social media is relatively new to society, it has only really been around for approximately two decades but has only recently become popular in the last decade. Teenagers utilise many different forms of social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter which allow them to connect with their peers. Social media has multiple negative impacts on the majority of the world, for example, cyberbullying, a lack of creativity and imagination in young people and many more issues. Cyber bullying is a massive problem caused by social media. Suicide rates have increased tremendously due to cyber bullying, 42% of teenagers with tech access report being cyberbullied over the past year. 81% of teens say bullying online is easier to get away with, this is because if someone messages someone it is not public, no one can view it unless they are one of those individuals so know one knows if it is happening and no one will know if they should do anything about it. If a child or teenager suffers from a cell phone addiction it could have massive negative impacts on their brains development. Cell phone addiction is a massive contributing factor to obesity, Individuals with cell phone addiction tend to be fearful, worrisome, pessimistic, shy and often socially awkward which can all lead to difficulty making friends and doing social activities. Cell phone/internet addiction can also lead to car crashes, statistics show that that cell phone use while driving leads to 1.6 million crashes each year and 1 out of 4 car accidents in the United States is caused by someone using, being distracted by a cell phone while driving. The average person checks their phone 110 times daily, that's an average of 9 times hourly, this can be a massive distraction in the day to day
