After re-answering the questions in the Moral Problems Self quiz I noticed a few of my answers have changed. Let me tell you about the ones that changed. One that changed a lot was if African Americans are still discriminated against in employment, my first answer was disagreeing. My second answer was strongly agreed. I thought this was left back years ago, but after reading about race and economic inequalities I have seen how there are still important differences between the economic status of whites and Hispanics, native Americans and African Americans.
Introduction Motivational interviewing is a collaborative, person-centred form of communication which focuses on the language of change. ‘It is designed to strengthen personal motivation for and commitment to a specific goal by eliciting and exploring the person’s own reasons for change within an atmosphere of acceptance and compassion’ (Miller et al., 2013, p.29). The technique of motivational interviewing was developed by two psychologists, Bill Miller and Steve Rollnick. Motivational interviewing is therapeutic to patients as it is based on a partnership, rather than a nurse-patient relationship (Heckman et al., 2010). There are four processes of motivational interviewing; engaging, focusing, evoking and planning.

The pure thought that through the ideologies of one - the treatment of thousands and ultimately millions could be made possible. It was Pinel 's "moral treatment or "traitement moral" that would open the door for the humane therapies for the mentally ill and thus labeling him as one of the founders of psychiatry. Prior to Pinel those with mental disorders were believed to demonically possessed.
The evaluation is the final part of my three mandatory written pieces of my graded unit. The final evaluation stage of the graded unit requires me to reflect on how the activity went, whilst highlighting my strengths, areas that require future development and identify my weaknesses, this, in turn, will enable me to adapt my practice to ensure I am continuously supporting patients to the standards set within The Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC). Looking back on the activity, I am proud of myself for being able to plan and follow the activity through to complication. When completing the book with Mr X I found it to be an enjoyable activity that not only offered benefits to Mr X but also to myself, it allowed me to understand the importance of building a therapeutic relationship with a patient. Building a successful therapeutic relationship required me to have good communication and interpersonal skills, (Radcliffe and Ford, 2015), that allowed me to build a relationship with Mr X based on mutual trust and respect.
Through extensive communication with the residents over the past few months, I have continuously improved my way of interaction. Since many of the residents were audibly and visually impaired, communication was difficult in the beginning. However I soon got to know the different conditions of the residents. I also learned and began to find different ways that made it easier to talk with individual people. For example, one of the residents: Clara, had quite a difficult time hearing and also it was sometimes difficult to understand her voice.

Why did you choose that agency and the relevance for your future clients? Being an active duty military spouse, the military lifestyle has become a large part of my identity and I belong within the military community. Working for the Airman and Family Readiness Center as a Social Worker is very much a “calling” for me. When I was a new spouse without a support system, the stresses related to the military were much more than I ever imagined. Now that I am a seasoned spouse who will soon earn her MSW, I really want to be there for the new military members at the best of my abilities.

But, even so, it seems that when it comes to making moral judgments about the actions or beliefs of other people we want to find ways to neutralize it. Our main guide is the purpose of being fair to those we judge and, therefore, we want to set aside what does not strictly depend on them, aspiring to eliminate any possible distortion of this goal. In the past I have shown my strength in this area of nursing care when looking after family members that have fallen victim to sickness. Whenever someone tells me that they are not feeling well, I immediately jump into action and try my best to make sure that they feel “cared for” .The feeling of pride and satisfaction I experience after caring for a person that is unwell is what originally made me choose nursing as a career. Caring is a basic attribute of human growth and development (Griffin 1983). This is why, as a nursing student I know it is such an important strength to be utilised when helping a patient to feel better.
Through the course of his treatments and convalescence I have learned that listening and the understanding of the condition, greater outweighs the physical act of recovery. This has provided me with the skills to become a more confident, care-provider and teacher to make any child succeed. Currently I am undergoing training to become a Friendship Volunteer for Independent Age. Again, this I hope underlines qualities that I have.
