Being messenger of Good Faith is a characteristic that I found very appealing. This is the kind of nurse I hope to be. I want to be there for my patients with my faith during the hardest times. Also I want to help them understands that God is wonderful and he is always present among us.
It is an honorable and humbling career that I am passionate about doing the rest of my life. Nurses are the healthcare professionals most intertwined with patient care, giving the important role of caregiver, teacher, and continuous student. Everyday brings a new opportunity and
“Clear and appropriate communication is essential for providing effective nursing care and presents a unique challenge to nurses today” (Kearney-Nunnery, 2012, p. 109). I am charge nurse most of my shifts. Knowing how to be an effective communicator can help in having a good working relationship with all colleagues. Overall, this course has been very beneficial to my advancing my
I believe a job as a certified nurse assistant will give me a better insight while working beside nurses and observe what set of skills nurses use. My strengths that best suit my personality and this program are determination, effort, caring, critical thinker, discipline, and enthusiastic. These qualities would reflect on a nurse and would make caring for the patient easier. I believe that I belong in the nursing field, because ever since I was a child, I always wanted to make a positive influence in people's lives.
However, I am aware that the beginning of effective leadership would be by developing a vision of the organization where a nurse leader serves. Coming up with a picture of what would be a future of excellence in delivering nursing care in the organization would be crucial in motivating and raising commitment among the other nurses. As a nurse leader, the vision that I would hold dear would be to ensure I have the capacity to make sure that the systems in place benefit individual needs of the patients in a manner that patients are always handled with respect and dignity while the work that nurses perform is respected and valued. For this to be met, there is a need for the nurse leader to assist the other nurses grasp the envisioned picture and remaining at the forefront in directing the others on where to go. Subsequently, I would want to be the kind of a nurse leader who can enable the staff to grasp the vision, to make sure the appropriate people assume the nursing roles and to model the behaviors that are desired of the other
McGuire-Wise is an excellent clinical supervisor because she is aware of my strengths and capabilities and she pushes me to see those strengths and capabilities. Her support and guidance helps me to see that I have a lot to offer my clients. She is also culturally sensitive when supervising me because she is very open and willing to learn from me. I believe this behavior enhanced my counseling skill because I am also more open and willing to learn from my clients. Mrs. McGuire-Wise’s patience, support, and knowledge are very encouraging because it motivates me to become a better counselor.
Nursing Core Competencies, Leadership At The Forefront Paul Oviasogie Broward College Nursing Core Competencies, Leadership At The Forefront Daphne Mallory stated, "Leadership is the art of serving others by equipping them with training, tools and people as well as your time, energy and emotional intelligence so that they can realize their full potential, both personally and professionally.” In nursing, RNs are encouraged to become proficient, professional leaders in the workplace. Nurse leaders embrace the responsibilities of their fellow nursing staff as well as the care of their patients. Also, leaders in nursing are devoted to advocating for their patients, ensuring patient and nursing satisfaction, delivering safe,
My development of soft skills started with having a sense respect for the position I was in, and for the individuals I came into contact with. Although I think soft skills are natural, the skills can further be nurtured by having confidence in oneself and abilities through hard work. For example, a nurse will come across someone who is facing adversity each day. It is important to be calm, and know the best way to handle the situation. Not only does the nurse need hard knowledge of how to solve the issue, the nurse must also display soft skills which will instill confidence inside the patient.
The career I chose to pursue is Registered Nurse. The reason why I chose Registered Nurse as my career choice is I love helping people. Making sure they are taken care of in every area from bathing, to cleaning, to hospitality. Registered Nurse is a good choice because you get to work with a variety of patients, and kids in the pediatric department and geriatric. Nurses are also very specialized in neo-natal intensive care.
A nurse has to be able to communicate with a patient, record the progress of the patient, and also operate the equipment being used. Nurses have to be kind and compassionate as well, “The character of a nurse is as important as the knowledge she possesses”. It takes a lot of patience to be a registered nurse, and not everyone is cut out for the job. I think I would be a great fit for registered nursing because I communicate well with people and I can multi-task.
Each of these qualities are qualities that I hope to someday have and present to
A good nurse is someone who is compassionate, empathetic, and has a desire to truly want to care for the well being of others. A good nurse is also someone who is knowledgeable and also stays current in the medical field. As an advocate, nurses should empower patients by motivating and encouraging them to be active in their own care, also making sure the patients voice is being heard, and ensuring proper care is being performed in the best interest of the patient. A nurse is also an educator; nurses have the responsibility of educating their patients on their medical condition when the patient does not understand their prognoses. When a patient has a lack of knowledge of the care that is being provided, the nurse also has a responsibility to explain the care and why it will help the patient in the process.
That is what helped in the past and I plan to continue doing it throughout the RN school. Obtaining my RN is an investment both intellectually as well as financially. Once I complete the course, I hope to have a broader knowledge in the field of nursing which I can use in the
I am interested in applying to the USC New Graduate Nurse Residency Program offered in the Stepdown Telemetry Unit. I will graduate from California State University, Fullerton’s Accelerated Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing program in May of 2016 and I am an excellent candidate for this program. Throughout my nursing program, I have performed quite well in both lecture and clinical environments, maintaining a 3.9 GPA and receiving excellent evaluations from my clinical instructors. During my capstone externship in the Los Alamitos Intensive Care Unit, I have learned not only the technical skills required of a registered nurse providing care for critically ill patients, but have also developed the critical thinking abilities that must accompany
Serving the underprivileged and underinsured has also always been a particular passion of mine. I feel that the mission, values and visions of the institute that one receives their education from should align closely with their personal beliefs as these are the values that will be taught and form ones character over the duration of the program. Georgetown University’s School of Nursing focuses not only on the individual but also the community as well as being a catalyst for health and social justice as mentioned in the Mission Statement and Vision directly correlate with my personal values and visions. The part that resonates with me the most is the Value of the Common Good which states that there is special emphasis placed on serving the marginalized and underserved. That value is key for me as the want to help the underserved was the primary reason I entered into healthcare.
