The seen challenges are; the existing misalignment goals, it takes place when various people working on a particular project is equipped with differentiated goals in their minds. In a situation where working existed with cross-purposes, there should be an expectation of interpersonal conflict among them, i.e. team members and leaders. The reason may be the lacking of the shared vision of reaching the biggest picture

It is very difficult to identify who is having the final say on all decisions among all decision-makers of the organization. There is the existence of individual projects without having an idea of who is accountable for the whole, and without knowing who the captain is. The possible solutions are the creation of a particular team for decision-making and all individual´s projects should be directed to the team for decision-making and also identify who and where each member should make a decision. It is a good idea to update the decision-makers and give them early information to give a decision. It is important to carry out duties in an effective manner where no decision-makers are expected to come in. An example of an organization having a Matrix system is General Electric. The GE management stated in September 1976 in its Organization Planning Bulletin; “We’ve highlighted matrix organization; not because it’s a bandwagon that we want you all to jump on, but rather that it’s a complex, difficult, and sometimes frustrating form of organization to live with.” This statement shows that there are existing challenges in a Matrix system of …show more content…

Graeter’s manufacture a number of products, using their three production factories and 6,200 retail outlets spread over 43 states in the U.S. Therefore, Graeter’s divides the business’s activities into groups according to function, product and location. Additionally, the organisation structure used by Graeter’s is the matrix structure, featuring a combination of vertical and horizontal lines of authority superimposed by the divisions of the departmentalisation of its organisation. As a consequence, employees are required to report to more than one leader due to the flow of authority across the structure depending on each department (Pride, Hughes and Kapoor 2015 pp. 188 & 195).
According to our readings, an organization that implements a matrix structure can be complex but flexible, as employees are grouped by functions and product teams (Jones, 2020, p.287). However, while there are benefits to using a matrix structure, there are also downfalls that can be caused conflicting demands among managers and team members. A more effective structure for a complicated organization could be having less middle management (Unit Seniors) as many times the communication is broken here from the time the objectives are delegated from the executive levels. Therefore, Jones (2020) suggests that a cross-functional team can be effective in such a complex organizational structure are internal unit rivalries between units can be worked through and focus on the overall department’s goal. I strongly believe that the Juvenile Probation Department can reach higher organizational goals if every leader would respect each other’s views and work together, despite the units they are in charge

This means that the top level managers and the executives are not basically the owners as they are differentiated from those who own the company’s daily operation from stock
