I believe the ten competencies were selected to give nurses a foundation. They help them navigate through all the roles and expectations a nurse interchangeable undergoes within a split second in an effortless manner; regardless of the professional nursing setting. Two competencies that standout to my nursing practice would have to be Patient Centered Care, along with Teamwork and Collaboration. I remember when I first started out as an LPN in a long-term care facility.
On Saturday, January 23, 2016 at approximately 1928 hours Security Officer Brandon Rodriguez was conducting a walk through E.D. the special care unit area when it was observed that E.D. Charge Nurse Jonathan Bacal and Patient Care Tech Tim Phillips were restraining patient Alan Burdick in ED room #39. The patient was combative and attempting to bite the medical staff due to being in a postictal state. Officer Rodriguez immediately responded and helped out nursing staff. He then notified dispatch and informed there would be no need for any additional officers. Officer Rodriguez assisted the medical staff in restraining the patient and after few minutes the patient calmed down and cooperated with medical treatment.
Response # 1 Hello Florence Enabulele, I enjoyed reading your illumination of advanced nurse practitioner policy competency. According to Hamric, Hanson, O’Grady and Tracy (2014), the word competencies relates to a comprehensive area of adept performance that comprise actions executed by the advanced nurse practitioners’ with processes and direct patient care. As a result of the intricacy related to health care competencies, the advanced nurse practitioners must be adept and knowledgeable mastering the clinical practice, delivery models, healthcare policy, safety and quality improvement and government regulation to advocate for their patient adequately (AONE, 2011). Indeed, you are on point as indicated in your post for the advanced practice
“It 's not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving.” Those wise words come from the one and only, Mother Teresa. Her quote comes to mind when I think of the career Certified Nursing Assistant. Another is “It takes a special person to do what you do, I don 't know if I could handle it”.
National competency standards for registered nurses would contain the core of evaluating competency for registered nurses, which they should meet for professional standards, such as codes of conducts, code of ethics and standards for nursing practice, under the authority of carrying out nursing practise within Australia. This professional portfolio can only represent a small part of my professional strengths. It cannot show my sincerity, compassion, or my determination in my every day professional patient care. For example, it cannot represent my dedication towards my patients or coworkers on a daily basis. However, my portfolio does demonstrate my capability to write and communicate clearly which is essential in health care for nursing orders and direct patient care, to reduce errors and increase patient satisfaction in health care. I truly believe in order to do an efficient job, an individual must work hard to accomplish personal and professional goals.
This assignment is based on a personal experience from my clinical practice at Richmond hospital, on a general surgical unit. The situation involves my experience in caring for a 62-year-old male patient, and the lessons I have gained from this significant clinical experience. To maintain confidentiality of my client, a pseudonym Mr. Chen will be used to protect the client’s anonymity. This paper will discuss the client’s background, a professional nursing standard, a reflection on my strengths and learning needs, and evaluation of outcomes to advance my knowledge for future nursing practice. Through this critical analysis and reflection of my continuing personal and professional development needs in clinical practice, I believe this will
1. INTRODUCTION T. S. Eliot (1943) once wrote, “We had the experience but missed the meaning”. We can have all the experiences in the world, but if we missed out on reflecting, how would we be able to find the meaning? In this reflection of an interview we were tasked to complete, I will be adopting Gibbs’ (1988) reflective cycle to help me in the describing, exploration of feelings, evaluating analysing, identifying implications, before concluding and writing the action plan. 2.
The rapid growth in developing countries like Ghana is mostly accompanied by the expansion of health facilities with critical care units (CCUs) being in focus. The expansion of the critical care services is often faced with challenges in expertise in critical care nursing. Newman 2003, stated that the experience of critical care nursing cannot be separated from the world in which they thrive. Thus, being up to the task of delivering optimal care should be coupled with expanding our knowledge in the critical care nursing.
Beth Israel School of Nursing Admissions Department: I am overjoyed that I finally have come to this point in my life where I am ready to take this next step in my career. I have decided to apply for the nursing program at Beth Israel because of the size of the school and the convenience of having it close to my house. I come from a small town in North Carolina and feeling a personal connection with the teachers and classmates is very important to me. In other universities, I would feel lost trying to figure out who to talk to about my concerns. I would love to have a close relationship with my professors and feel the same support I have from my family.
