My team played games up to two times a week and then four to eight games on the weekend, not to mention occasional practices in between as
Other days we just work on big chunks and bring it all together. We repeat this over and over until our instructors are satisfied in what we have done. We have two hours of practice after school on Tuesday and Thursday, and from six to nine on Wednesdays. It is exhausting but it is amazing to see what we can
All my life I wanted to be a snowboarder. When I was 12 years old my family went up north to Shanty Creek Resort during our christmas break and I got my first opportunity to snowboard. My dad got me and my older sister one lesson so we could understand the basics of snowboarding. For me personally I caught on very fast and was snowboarding all over the mountain after the lesson, but for my sister it was tougher and she got frustrated fast. While I was up north that was my first and only time snowboarding in the season 2012/2013. After the season was over and there was no more snow to be seen I realized that I had a passion to snowboard and couldn’t wait till next season to get better and better at it. All summer I waited to snowboard again and when fall came and I knew it was getting close and got very anxious to be back on the mountain.
Mark Smith the author of “The Road to Winter” displays that affliction brings out the very finest and least in people. The story is centred the main character Finn. He survived a deadly virus that wiped out his entire town and he has to adapt to a life by himself. Finn lost his family and friends and had to survive on his own. He learnt to kill animals, defend himself and a whole lot more. Suddenly a mystery girl shows up with a secret that changed Finns world. Smith explores the idea that in times of affliction people can become different in the following ways. People ransacking the general store, The villagers not allowing Finn to leave for selfish reasons, Willow being in the care of Kas and Finn and Ramage taking Hope after the death of Rose.
The transition from childhood to adulthood occurs when an individual is able to recognize the impact he or she can leave upon their community, gaining life skills doing so. An accomplishment that marked my transition from childhood to adulthood, would be best demonstrated by the process and completion of a leadership responsibility when I performed my Eagle Scout Project. I joined the scouting program when I was very young, and have been very active since ever. Becoming an Eagle Scout has many challenges that a young Boy Scout must undertake, including the completion of a community-based project, which is an important step in obtaining this notable rank. The Eagle Scout Project is designed for the scout to learn different leadership responsibilities. The project allows the scout to have practice with difficult situations to give the young man experience in life lessons. My community-based project was
Coming from BCT to my unit was a big change. You go from standard military bearing to a laid back informal style. I arrive to my unit in July of 2008, from that point until January 2010 was spent training for a deployment. Now there is nothing that can prepare you for a deployment. You can go through all the briefings and all the trainings you want but nothing will prepare you for it. The day came to board the bus set out for a foreign country. I little about me first I am a very keep to myself person. I show zero emotion, as when I was a child I was poked fun at for showing any type of emotion. Once I boarded that bus I broke down and started to cry. I more I thought about it the more uneasy I became. I had to hold it together for
During the week of tryouts we practiced right after school from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. I was so tired that I had to come home and go straight to bed. I also missed my cousin's birthday party, and even a few other events because of practice. I missed some school events, too. But making the squad had always been an enormous dream of mine.
The pinnacle experience of my life so far occurred at the end of my junior year. I stood onstage and held my breath as I reveled in the surrealness of the moment. For everyone else on stage, their dreams since freshman year were coming true. However, I had not dared dream of such an event. My predecessor attached the pin to my blazer and just like that, it was official.
Making it to the national high school rodeo finals is something I will never forget. Nationals is the biggest youth rodeo in the world and is made up of over 1,500 contestants. Each contestant competes in 2 rounds and possibly a short round depending on how well they do. Making nationals had always been a dream of mine and last year I achieved that. I made it in the cutting horse division and to do
One specific event that come to my mind that I am most proud of is leading my marching band for national championships inside of Met Life Stadium. With hundreds of fans cheering for the Central Bucks South Marching Titans, a feeling of pride had consumed me in a way I never felt before. The hundreds of hours my marching band had put into practice had shown through, destroying it 's original façade of mediocrity, breaking the limits, and pushing towards being great. Even coming in fifth place the overall accomplishment that my band and I felt brought a sense of success to us.
Now I practice four hours a day but only on week days. In conclusion, to reach your goals, you have to set goals and meet them by practicing hard. The only reason I became better than my friends is because I practiced very hard everyday but just because you meet your goals, that doesn’t mean that you quit practicing and quit trying to become the best because if you do then all the hard work was for
One of my favorite things to do is to film an activity with gopro and then edit it later that day. When I first got my gopro I didn’t know how to use it very well but over time I got better and as I got better, I started to enjoy it even more than anything because it was easy simple and I could do it wherever I wanted to do it. Whenever I’m editing it’s like I get sucked into a hole new world and when i’m editing I think it’s been 30 minutes but really it’s been 2 hours. Over the past 2 months I have had my gopro it has easily become one of my passions. Another one of my passions it to ski the first time I had skied was when I was 10 and we went to colorado and the first time put on my skis I was a little intimidated by the ski lift because
The most inspiring story in my life had to be the movie Miracle on Ice. It 's about a 1980 USA hockey team that heads to the Olympic to win the gold. Around this time the United States were going through some tough times with Russia. The hockey team was led by coach Herb Brooks and his assistant coach Craig Patrick. Herb Brooks is a strange guy that knew the game very well.
“How would your best friends describe you? I’m like an innocent rabbit hopping in the forest.” I was thirteen when I had my first interview for a summer program at the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum. I was ambitious and certain that I was going to be accepted with my charisma and accomplishments. Successful?
That is a feeling that I will forever remember. All I remember was not even thinking about what I was doing on stage, all I was thinking about was my best friend out in the audience instead of on stage with the rest of us. It was so shocking when my name got called for outstanding performer. That was the my favorite competition ever because we won grand champion, and I got outstanding performer. Knowing that I won that award taught me that my hard work pays off, and it motivates me to do my best while
