According to the many articles & books I looked at, Sex Trafficking is a form of modern slavery it stems from prostitution. It’s a huge violation of Human rights & is solely for sexual pleasure. Sex Trafficking in the 21st century is now considered as “Modern Day Slavery”. It exist in the U.S and globally. Under U.S Federal law, any minor under the age of 18 included into commercial sex is a victim of sex trafficking - regardless of whether or not the trafficker used force, fraud, or coercion. The situations that sex trafficking victims face vary dramatically. Many victims become romantically involved with someone who then forces or manipulates them into prostitution. Others are lured in with false promises of a job, such as modeling
Victims are often silenced and told that telling law enforcement will only create more of a problem for them because prostitution is against the law. In most cases, no one steps forward to get their traffickers in jail. The feeling most girls have is turning there pimp in, means turning themselves in. In other cases, many get attached to their pimp and develop dysfunctional relationships that make them scared to come out and tell law enforcement. “Traffickers also play into the narrative by telling victims, who are exploited for sex, theyĺl threaten to call the police and report them for prostitution if they push back” (Alvarez 2).

Myrtle Beach is an ideal vacation spot during all times of the year, especially during the summer months when school is out. One problem that can occur during these vacation periods is human trafficking. North and South Carolina are in the top 10 worst states for human/sex trafficking. This has been a problem for the past 10 years in these states. Many locals are scared for their children’s safety after all these trafficking cases have occurred by their homes.
With this being said, it is clear that women and young girls are typically the most at risk when it comes to commercial sexual exploitation. In the United States, human trafficking has taken on different forms than what is normally thought of as human trafficking. It can range from a migrant laborer wanting to get a job to be able to support his family to survive who is then forced into manipulative work to a child running away to get away from abuse that is happening at home and the person that is helping the child get away from the abusive situation at home turns out to be exploiting him or her to make a profit (Farrell et al, 2014). According the International Labour Organization has estimated that 20.9 million people are involved in human trafficking in the whole world, with 1.5 million victims are in the United States, Canada, and Western Europe. In 2011, there were 3,969 convictions worldwide, and there were only 151 convictions in the United States.
Throughout Atlanta and the enclaves of the surrounding area, sex trafficking is devastating the lives of thousands of women and young girls. With sales on the rise, Atlanta is becoming an epicenter for sex trafficking, with 12,400 men in Georgia paying for sex each month. Atlanta needs to find new ways to put an end to sex trafficking to help improve the lives of thousands of women. Every month, 374 girls are commercially sold in Georgia, with the average entry age being 12 to 14.
After researching about multiple different topics that are presumed problems in the United States that need resolving, sex trafficking is a line of work that goes against any religion. Does the United States do enough to prevent people from joining this line of work, or are they pushing papers so they don 't get involved? Does the United States of America take action when needed, or do they have enough laws placed that can prevent pimps from selling innocent human beings? Prostitution, the practice or occupation of engaging in sexual activity for payment arrived from the latin word “prostituta”. While researching this topic it was found to be very controversial.
Many of the victims are forced with violence or indirectly with psychological blackmail into the sex trade. Human trafficking is the worst form of abuse that can be inflicted on an individual. A trafficked human being suffers from mental, and physical abuse, leaving them with lifelong mental illnesses. Many women dream of a better life and are willing to travel across the globe to better their lives.

Sex trafficking is a major issue in the world and people often overlook the fact that it can be an issue in the most modern and advanced first world countries. This is the modern term for slavery of people for purposes including forced sex and labor. Sex trafficking is one of the most exclusive and most advanced types of slavery and is often gone unseen or unnoticed. This problem can cause many people to have low self-esteem and problems with their health. The low self-esteem is often caused because the people are raised or built to understand that they have no worth and that they are meant for nothing but to be raped and to do work without pay.
