The Effect of the Internet and Social Media on the Success of a Business
According to experts, “Today around seven in ten Americans use social media to connect with one another, engage with news content, share information, and entertain themselves” (Pew Research Center 2018). The effect of social media has made businesses grow and expand for the best and even caused some to fail and foreclose. The internet and social media has improved businesses in the areas of advertisement, networking, receiving feedback, and increasing sales. This is an important thing for people to understand if they are running a business or plan to start one.
Advertisement has helped businesses to get their products seen all over the world and bought. There are many outlets that companies use to advertise their products. According to Queensland Government (2018), businesses often use social media websites such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Celebrities and/or YouTubers receive sponsorship by a company to review their products and it can either influence their viewer to buy the product or not. This helps to get the brand and product know and increase the sales of the product the company is selling to increases their chance of having a successful business.
