There is a high significance for a nursing student completing their degree in nursing to start their career as a nurse practitioner. Nursing students must prepare to become nationally certified by an accredited body upon completion of their schooling in order to advance their career (AANP, 2016). This academic accreditation process helps to show that the students have met the requirements to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in their population focus testing. The scope of practice will be affected based on the certification that the practitioner obtains. If the Nurse Practitioner obtains a certification as a nurse specialists in pediatrics, oncology, geriatrics, emergency medicine, etc. there are scopes and standards of practices that the practitioner must not act outside of (ANA, 2016). There are also state regulation scopes of practices that allow for Nurse Practitioners to practice independently, with reduced practice, and with restricted practice. Along with these practice environments, Nurse Practitioners must abide by facility and institutional policy and procedures that outline their scope of practice (ANA, 2016). There are very few states that still allow Nurse Practitioners to practice without a national certification. These states in the future may require the nurses however to in fact take national certification as more employers and third party insurers for malpractice are looking

Mostly everyone chooses their career when they are in high school. It is a very important decision that can affect one’s life. One might want to take on a career that affect people's lives, such as a nurse, doctor, and more. Although a nurse anesthetist career requires good education and skilled workers, it is a challenging career because of the skills and qualities a person needs, but the salary, benefits, and the experience are wonderful rewards.

I am interested in your New Graduate Nurse Residency Program. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts Boston and recently obtained my MA RN license in August 2015.

As a child I was very fortunate to have a family like my own; my parents were truly happy and wholly in love. I was incredibly close with my siblings and still am today despite our little fights. Along with being close to my siblings my father and I had a great relationship; most people who knew me would have considered me a “daddy’s girl”. Growing up my father was remarkably proud of my grades and who I was becoming as a person. Oftentimes he would brag about me to anyone who listened. Like most children I dreamed how happy he would be to see me go to college, start a career and have a family of my own. All of that changed on September 9th, 2011 when I found out my dad had been diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis also known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Ever since I can remember I have always wanted to make a difference and help anyone in need that I possibly could. From the start of my childhood, I can recall helping my mother care for my great grandparents, so they would be able to live out the rest of their lives from their home, instead of in a nursing home. As a young child it was extremely difficult to live with and watch my loved ones deteriorate as they got older, as their condition got worse and worse, and saw my mother having a difficult time keeping up with caring for both of my great grandparents 24/7, it put a lot of stress on the family. While working several shifts in an Alzheimer's unit in a local care facility, I had the opportunity to meet a registered nurse named Sarah. Sarah had plenty of insight on what it is like being a nurse in a facility. During my observations of her duties I witnessed many things that opened my eyes as to what I want in my future career choices.
