Introduction
All the countries around the world have been taking more seriously the effect that smoking has on the society. As known, smoking cigarettes can cause lung cancer, as it damages our lungs containing nicotine. Personally, I want to study this topic further because I am interested in the way that the government approaches a market that is constantly selling regular cigarettes and has very high rates for smoking. I would like to further research the effect of what seems to be a solution to a certain type of cancer. I feel like the new product of electronic cigarettes could have an effect on the consumption of cigarettes and therefore lower the death rate caused by normal cigarettes. Electronic cigarettes seem to have proven that they are a way to help people stop smoking or decrease the consumption and addiction created by nicotine and other chemicals. As well as choosing a topic that is very concise but at the same time broad enough, I will be able to present a wide range of theories learnt in the economics course. This essay is based around the idea of externalities. These are a type of market failure, which is a situation in which the allocation of resources is not efficient.
To assess the effect that electronic cigarettes have had on the market of regular cigarettes, the research question “To what extent have electronic cigarettes affected the market for regular cigarettes in the United Kingdom?” was created.
Hypothesis
It was hypothesized that electronic
Mosts if not all e-cigarettes work the same way. On the inside theres a heatng lemnet, battery and a cartirdge which holds nicotineas and other liiquids that provide flavoring. By providing the user with nictine, it elimnates cigareette smoke and provide the user with vapor instead. Back April of this year, Maine lawmakers proclaimed that they were considering htee possiblily of including e-cigarretes to the state's no smaking law for bars, parks, estuarants and other publicareas. This occuresed as a result of the bill (LD 1108) that Rep. Jeff McCabe, introduced back in march of this year.
This article written by Joe Nocera is a highly controversial topic within teens and young adults. The use of e-cigarettes has been scrutinized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as a new found addiction. The CDC believes that e-cigarettes are just as dangerous as normal cigarettes and are a detriment to the public health. Throughout the paper, Nocera is illustrating to the reader that he is very one sided with his opinion. Necura believe that e-cigarettes are not harming the youth but acting as a diversion to smoking combustible cigarettes.
“By 2013, the major multinational tobacco companies had entered the e-cigarette market. E-cigarettes are marketed via television, the Internet, and print advertisements (that often feature celebrities)” (Rachel Grana, “Contemporary Reviews in Cardiovascular Medicine”).
They provide information on new technologies, medications, and patient care. This article is about the study done based on what US adults believed about electronic cigarettes. Then they compared the beliefs between electronic cigarette uses and non-users. The researchers found that 1 in 3 people believed that electronic cigarettes helped smokers wait and are less harmful than smoking traditional cigarettes.
In Tina Rosenberg’s article, “Ugly is the New Look for Cigarette Packs”, the main issue focuses mainly on how packaging is used to both dissuade and persuade people when purchasing the product. More specifically, smoking is a product, with the ability to sell based heavily on how its customers portray the product. The argument on how to dissuade people from purchasing cigarettes is discussed heavily, and Rosenberg includes many examples used by various countries to succeed in decreasing in cigarette sales. On the other hand, the discussion on what is used to persuade customers into buying the cigarettes is section of her article that shows how easily people are swayed into purchasing a specific brand of cigarette. By mentioning how cigarette companies persuade customers, it also provides a secondary issue in the article, about whether or not it is ethical to persuade customers in this manner.
Specific Purpose Statement: To invite my audience to consider the advantages and disadvantages of smoking cigarettes so that they can make an informed decision on whether or not to smoke them Thesis: There are two obvious stances on cigarettes: pro-cigarette and anti-cigarette. Today I would like to explore these two stances and have a discussion about your current views. Introduction:
Although many users are aware of the severe negative impacts on their health, users continue to purchase several packs of cigarettes daily. In most instances, each pack results in a shorter lifetime to spend with their families and loved ones as each cigarette smoked decreases a life expectancy by about 14 minutes. Additional data on this topic includes the 1.3 billion people who smoke worldwide, the 15 billion cigarettes sold daily (nearly 10 million per minute), and not to mention the fact that someone dies from tobacco use every eight

E- Cigs are safer than cigarettes Electronic cigarettes often called E-cigs or vapes depending on the person you ask or model you buy. They are often used to help quit smoking by offering juices with nicotine that give you the same “buzz” as a normal cigarette would minus the terrible taste and smell cigarettes leave. So overall E-cigs are a safer alternative than cigarettes and i will explain in my paper on how they are. First off, cigarettes carry over five thousand different chemicals in each one of the little cigarettes while e-juice only carries only five to six chemicals that don't have much effect on the body. The article "New Study Comes the Closest Yet to Proving That E-cigarettes Aren't as Dangerous as Smoking."
The e-cigarette was first invented in 2003 in Beijing, China by a man named Hon Lik, he is a 52 year old pharmacist, inventor and smoker. He got the idea of the electronic cigarette after his father whom was a heavy smoker, past-away from lung cancer .An e-cigarette is an electronic smoking device that is a battery- powered vaporizer which has a similar feel to tobacco smoking. This type of cigarette does not contain tobacco but has nicotine which is addictive from tobacco plants. The electronic cigarette does not produce smoke like a normal cigarette but produce vapour.
Electronic cigarettes were first introduced into the tobacco market in 2003. However, in the last few years, electronic cigarettes have been trending, especially among high school students. According to the Surgeon General study, “In 2015, 1 in 6 high school students reported using e-cigarettes in the last month”. The promotion and production of electronic cigarettes is an issue that must be addressed because they are attracting minors who may have never been addicted to nicotine prior to the introduction of e-cigarettes in the market. Companies have branded e-cigarettes as a ‘safer’ alternative to regular cigarettes, however, it is quite possible that consumers, more specifically the youth, are not well informed of the ingredients in them.
According to The Washington Post just in one year from 2013-2014, the numbers of school students using e-cigarettes is tripled and it’s gone up 800 percent since 2011.Contrary to that This is because it is often portrayed as harmless and it is being sold in such kid-friendly options as coca-cola, candy, strawberry and many other flavors. This has raised fears in society as it is been decade, we tried to combating and decreasing the numbers of smokers (Dennis). Also, a research found that teenagers who used this device are 3 times more likely to smoke regular cigarettes compared to those who had never use this device as a lot of parents are fine with their children using this device and they are not aware of the danger of it (Spencer). Moreover, there is more report that children drinking the e-cigarette juice and become horribly ill. For example a case in New York where a toddler died after ingesting liquid nicotine intended for use in an e-cigarette as many parents unaware of the safety risks to children from unsafe storage of e-liquid.
Doesn't it hurt when you know that someone you love and admire is doing something that they shouldn't be doing at such a young age. That's is how I felt when I found out my friends were smoking. Kids my age or much older, for century's have smoked, before they had an excuse. People didn't know it was bad to smoke, but as scientist found out that cigarettes aren't as great as they thought. Tobacco companies were losing money at the speed of light, because people realized the negative effect to .
Worldwide, tobacco use causes about 90% of lung cancer deaths, 30% of all cancers, 20-25% of coronary heart diseases and stroke deaths, and more than 80% of chronic bronchitis and emphysema”. (Jordan 1). Secondly not only does it affect smokers but even people who don 't even partake in the activity of smoking cigarettes. Second hand smoke is a serious issue and can cause cancer almost easy as being an actual smoker can.
I found that electronic cigarettes contains more chemicals than the normal cigarettes. I also found that these chemicals cause lung damage. Some other chemicals in the flavors in EC can be turned to addiction which is the same as the normal cigarettes which doesn’t make it any better. The EC started to affect people 's life and my friend was one of them. What happen encouraged me to start my research again and see what does EC contains to harm people 's
