My writing and reading process generally varies depending on its purpose. For class assignments, I mostly do my work in an environment similar to my class room. Finally, there is the most subtle form of anxiety, which is the slight discomfort from a minor drawback. Not always noticeable, anxiety is present when there is a snag in the plan. Another way I read text is by pulling out words that I don’t know and looking up the meaning of them. I also underline and highlight things I believe are important. Reading for college is a lot tougher than reading for pleasure because when I read for pleasure it is always stuff I’m interested in. Another thing about what I read for pleasure is that the books are short and sweet to the point. The books I read for pleasure are usually magazines, articles, the news, and posts on social media.
I usually start drifting after reading two to three pages. Nowadays reading and interpreting has become a real struggle for me. I have regrets for not being able to concentrate on reading for long hours and for not understanding the articles or paragraphs clearly. On the other hand, I also believe that we have been benefited from the internet too.
The way I prepared myself for this book was on every page I had at least about three sticky notes stating the important facts and at the end of the chapter I had a one sentence summary stating the main idea opic of that chapter. This method I have found out has helped me the most it helps me remember certain things better due to my short-term memory loss. For my writing method, I tend to make outlines so I don’t get off topic. Both of my reading and writing method I have discovered for myself throughout my school years has helped me learn better and just in generally better myself academic wise.
Do plan for reading aloud encounters with literature. Practicing before you read aloud is important and you should think about the story’s structure, characters, descriptions, illustrations, themes and use of language (Vacca, et al., 2015). Don’t take reading aloud lightly. Practicing will help you not stumble over words and help to accomplish all the dos and don’ts rules I have created. 3.
Throughout the term there has been many writing assignments —big or small— that helped reflect my writing process or the process itself. In the beginning of the course I felt like I was an “ok” writer, but lacked some skills such as: organization, sentence variety, and vocabulary. Also, I did not like to write and had a feeling of dislike when forced to write. I felt like I improved on everything I wanted and was seen throughout the semester. I know how to organize my ideas, the worksheets given in class to work on sentence variety really helped, and vocabulary was built on some level.
Even though I have experience helping to write IEPs in the last two years, it was really just from what I gleaned from sitting in IEP meetings and listening to colleagues as they reviewed IEPs with families. This class provided much more detail to me, about the thought process behind each section of the IEP (PLOPs, measureable goals) and why the IEP is developed the way it is. For example, the Present Levels of Performance are written to give a clear picture of the student – where are they now? What are their academic and functional needs? How does their disability affect their time in the regular education classroom?
Writing process is difficult to realize since it requires a lot of skills and knowledge. Definitely, not many of us can start writhing right away without having any problems such as grammar, vocabulary or organization. However, a person can become a better writer if he or she will practice writing every day and will pay attention to his writing problems. To become a good writer, I have to improve my grammar, follow specific steps in writing process, and avoid using similar transitional words. Grammar is the number one problem in the writing process and causes me a lot of issues.
Every student has their own writing process. Writing process ways is the student's way to have the best writing assignments and make who ever read it understand their main idea. In this essay I am going to explain my own writing process for various type. In chapter 4 by Keith Hjortshoj “How Good Writing Gets Written” which talks about how should develops their writing skills and gives them some tips that they should use in their writing process.
ENG-122 Reflective Essay My writing process has changed tremendously over the course of this class. I feel more accomplished, confident and I feel sometimes that my ideas and thoughts just come in to my mind out of nowhere and I start writing about anything now. I pay attention to my punctuation and grammar more as I have polished them more now, not only when I write but then others write as well. I am constantly looking for errors and I highly think this is helping me a lot in my career.
Writing project 3 has shown me the importance of writing something that is of interest for you, an issue that you are passionate about. I think that I have started to get somewhat better at the structuring of my writing and using outlines before I jump into a draft. I am no longer as scared and hesitant to write, as I was the first writing project. I think a good goal that I accomplished from this project was using diverse sources in my writing. I was able to utilize a magazine post, newspaper article and research journals to form my argument and provide support.
During my elementary years, I don’t recall being interested in reading, but I do remember the first time I fell in love with it. I was in my 7th-grade reading class. I just completed a quiz when my teacher realized that I had nothing to do after. She offered me a book that I will remember for the rest of my life because it is the book that basically started my reading journey. It was called Tears of a Tiger by Sharon Draper, I loved the book so much that I read the whole entire series.
The purpose of this memo is to give a detailed report on the success of my completed projects as well as the status on ongoing projects. Throughout this report I will discuss any questions or concerns I have with projects that I have done or that I am still working on. I will also provide an illustration of the status of each project that has been assigned in the form of a chart. The report will then go on to discuss my future plans for how I plan to complete projects that are currently incomplete.
Annotating was also a big method that my former teachers would preach about doing. Some teachers told me that you should always read a passage or something that you have to comprehend at least twice. First skim over it and underline or highlight words and phrases that you didn’t understand. Then after that go back and re-read it word for word. Depending how interested I was or how important the reading was to my success was my decision of either skimming or reading for word for word.
