So why can’t the teens go out for lunch too? Well often times teenagers are seen as irresponsible, but this is not always the case. There are tons of responsible teens out there that could handle leaving school for lunch. Sometime the teens don’t even want to go out to eat, sometimes they just need a break to recharge. Off-campus lunch provides money for our community, the students mature and learn to become responsible adults, not to mention they get a nice break from their learning environment.
They don´t give the kids enough time to eat, students have their eyes glued to the junk food they present them with, and schools are responsible for 50% of kids calorie intake. Youth have no choice in what they eat at school due to lack of time for eating, money for outside of school meals and the fact that schools present fifty percent of a child´s daily calorie intake. In a New York times article, Katy Murphy mentions that kids don't have enough time to finish their lunches so they will usually pay attention to the junk food. If schools were to ban junk food, they would have more time to notice their more healthier options, thus helping them to make better nutritional choices. In the same article, Murphy says something that made me think.
My stomach made a funky blurp noise and I was feeling very odd. Lunch was similar to yesterday. More talk about recycling, trash, waste and more stuff. I was bored out of my wits and waited to get lunch as the Principal talked on. Then something caught my attention.
I have many cons on why close campus is a bad idea. The food at the school is not very good. Yes, it is edible but not very tasty. Not only food but students need time away from school. So they can relax and get ready for the second half of school.
Should Students be allowed to eat during class hours? Eating snacks during class hours is one of the few causes of occurring problems to teachers and some students who is not in favor of this. Generation by generation, our working force and time is being changed; including in academics, there’s a lot of work to do off and in school especially to students. Whereas in our history there is still enough time for taking snacks before and after class, where in today there are factors in which taking snacks in the usual time is disabled. However, today eating snacks during class hours has become a norm for some students in their respective schools and the extent to which some teachers also go beyond to bear with it.
Imagine you are eating lunch, while you are taking a bite into your sandwich your principal comes outside and tells you that lunch is over. You then go for the rest of the day hungry and unenergized. That is what our schools lunch times are like. What are the benefits of having a longer lunch time? Having a longer lunch time allows us to be full of energy for the rest of the day, have time to talk to our friends, and last but not least we need it gives us time to process what we have learned.
Sugar is a food that gives your false energy, it is similar to coffee, they both are a wild ride of highs and lows. These foods are random, you can never tell at which point in time you will fall into a low and have a hard time thinking or staying awake. All of the meals in a child 's day consist of something processed or not healthy for the body, which led to bad sleep and lower energy. This is another reason to make school lunch purely health-conscious food. The lunch takes away from the pure processed diet kids are used to, and makes them feel better at the same
For those of us who are lucky enough to eat a complete set of meal a day (breakfast, lunch, dinner), many of us are too picky to eat a healthy selection of food. Other times, we waste a lot of food that can feed a hungry child or two just because we did not like the taste, or how it was prepared. So, how then can we avoid wasting food because we didn’t prepare it the right way, and save those extra bucks we spend every time we dine out because we are too tired or too lazy to cook our dinner? We need to be smarter about our food choices. Starting a healthy lifestyle begins with choosing healthy foods for our meals.
But if you really want to lose weight, it will be better if you make your own lunch because you have a certain diet to follow. If you just go with your co-workers and have lunch at the nearest fast food or cafeteria, you will eventually lose sight of your weight loss goal. Plus, the fast foods and cafeteria do not know that you are on a diet. To help you prepare your own lunch, you should prepare it the night before so you won’t have to wake up earlier. Packing your own lunch takes time but if you prepare it ahead of time, packing your own lunch will feel like just a snap.
One final reason many of the Krum High School students eat fast food is that they do not like the food in the cafeteria. Many of the students in my classes complain about how disgusting and gross our cafeteria food is. So instead of packing a lunch students will bring fast food for their lunch. Overall the students at Krum High School would rather keep eating the unhealthy fast foods knowing the health risks then spend some time cooking a well
Have your parents ever asked you what you had for lunch? Have they told you that the one thing they miss was school lunch? My parents have and the reason why they missed it was being use they had homemade meals. I wish Bellmont high school would spend a little more time and money on our school lunches. At school, I expect a good lunch everyday day and something that will make me full too.
When it comes to how the students feel about this change, there have been many disagreements about the new school lunches. It is reported that many students have begun to bring their own lunches to school or have chosen not to eat. This outrage has been caught by news channels including US News and Fox News, which shows the reaction of students and families regarding the change of school lunches. It is said that students have begun declining lunches but according to Turner & Chaloupka (2014), “Although 13.7% of respondents ‘‘strongly agreed’’ that at first students complained about the meals, 63.2% also agreed or strongly agreed that most students are no longer concerned about the meals” (Turner & Chaloupka, p. 353). In other words, in the beginning of the study, students were complaining about the school lunches that were given but after they became more familiar with it, they complained less.
It is spending money that we don’t have for a lunch with fruits and vegetables that we just throw away (4)”, students do not want just spend their money on food that is not even the half of the food they used to get in the previous lunch program, counting the price the lunches are higher and students are not happy with it. In addition, some students are choosing to get junk food, because the new federal lunch program do not appetize them “it was kind of ironic that we are downsizing the amount of food to cut down on obesity but kids are going and getting junk food to fill their hunger (6)”, so even if the federal is trying to involve the students to eat healthy, students would always pick the option more accessible for them, and that will fill their
