External Environment
The specific environment of most advertising agencies is made up of mainly customers and competitors. The agencies are constantly competing against each other to get clients. The advertising agencies are their own suppliers in the sense that they create and design campaigns that will help their clients in selling their products and services. Mediacom’s main competitors in the Middle East are Prism action communications, 02 network, JWT Dubai and Crayons Communications. There has been history of political instability in the Middle East region and parts of North Africa. It is not a good climate for any business activity to take place as it slows down economic activities. According to an article by Pamela Smith, she states that Reda Raad, CEO for MENA at the TBWA/RAAD agency was quoted by a local media in the UAE saying "Just as we were seeing the light at the end of the tunnel following the global financial crisis, we find ourselves now in a completely different challenge, involving political instability and the creation of democratic fever that is out of our control" (Smith, 2011). This comment by the CEO explains how the countries in the Middle East are vulnerable to political instability. He further stated that economic activity in Egypt reduced due to the uprising.
