Education is the most important tool of transformation in the academic and public position of any society. In Namibia, as well as other countries of the world, education is a tool for socio- economic and political development (Valentine, 2003). This further enunciated in the National Policy on Education ( Federal Government of Nigeria, 2004) which states that education will continue to be highly rated in the National Development Plans. However, for quality education to be attained there is need for teachers and students to be alive for their responsibilities of teaching and learning in schools, especially schools in rural areas. Some sociologists and psychologists who have operated on the concept of teacher’s morale specified that teacher’s morale is linked to the amount of (teacher) interest about their job at an exact time (Johnsrued and Rosser, 2002). Moreover, there are two main facts of teacher morale. There are intrinsic, which is internal and materialistic in nature. Contributing to the debate on teacher’s morale, Ronen (2006) found that the intrinsic aspects of teacher’s morale are better predictors of turnover than the extrinsic aspect. From observation, it is atguable that teacher’s morale could influence academic performance of students. Omotosho( 2006) argued that teacher’s morale is one of the most significant factors that determine the educational height attained by each student. According to him, teacher’s morale has the magic touch of raising the academic performance of students. Teachers can work to any length if they are well motivated.
1.2 Statement of the Study
This study seeks to investigate the effectiveness of teacher morale at Muzii Combined School on student’s academic performance.
