Many students have the opportunity to work in teams whether it’s a sport or a club that partakes in competitions. For me, that activity is marching band. Although marching band isn’t a sport, it’s similar in the team aspect, except we can have 150 or more other team members. Working in such a large group can be very overwhelming and time consuming. The season starts in late June and can go on well into the months of November or December. The overall objective of our band is to put on the best show possible. With each year, the hardest obstacle is training the rookies. They have to be just as disciplined and have the same conditioning as the older members to be able to carry out the drill. Marching Band as a Sport When the average person thinks of sports they think of football, soccer, baseball, hockey, or basketball. Yes those are all great sports, but what about all the others that aren 't considered sports, like marching band? Marching band should be considered a sport for many reasons. Marching band fits all the definitions for a sport (and it follows them to perfection). There are many statistics to reveal marching band is a sport and how hard the members work.
When you think of sports, marching band is not necessarily something that comes to mind but should definitely be included in the category of a sport. First, marching band fits the definition of a sport by being physically exerting and requiring skill. A marching band not only consists of band members that play instruments, but also include the color guard. The color guard is a section of the band that does not play an instrument but uses props, flags or other items to enhance the visual appeal of the performance. Most times they can do as much, if not more, work than the members that play instruments.
The time is now. The roaring crowd settled, the stadium lights shined above us, the field was set. It was time to show the audience how much dedication, sweat, and tears were put in the show right before the eyes. The masterpiece, I like to call it. Cheerleading is an activity where you make a routine and perform it for points, and even win awards at competitions. When you perform you are against many teams in your division. Cheerleaders take a lot of time to train and prepare for the competition, also cheerleading is more physically demanding than other sports, lastly cheerleading meets all the requirements to be a sport.
If you have ever been in sports or school athletics, act fast! Schools are getting rid of their sports and we need to stop it. “Being a student is harder than ever. You are being held to tougher academic standards-and so is your school.
I am patient with them. You have to be with younger kids. The troop leader depends on me to help with the girls if she steps outside. When we went to the mall after band ratings, i helped a band friend buy her lunch. I care about learning and getting an education.
“Marching Band v.s. Football” Marching band and football have a lot more in common than people realize. Most individuals do not take this into consideration, they favor one over the other in most cases, unless you have children or friends that are involved in both. The two encourage each other, when the marching band plays it really can spark an energy unspoken into the football players; thus, when the football team makes a good play, this can really be beneficial when getting a band to be interested in the game. Together, both activities bring out the best in each other, though, they do have their differences as well. One of the first visibal and obvious differences between the marching band and the football team is the equipment each uses.
In this weeks case study on the Osoyoos Indian Band and Application of Okanagan Leadership Principles, I have chosen to speak about the four topics of leadership, role models, the ways meetings have evolved, and engagement within the indigenous community. As a Navajo Nation and Sisseton-Wahpeton Dakota member, I grew up mostly in or around the reservation. I have experienced the troubles that many citizens have such as poverty, substance abuse, and unemployment. Therefore, making connections to points made by Ethan Baptiste in this case study was not challenging. The first connection I would like to make is that leadership represented in this case study is presented in the chief, it says that they put they the people before themselves, even before themselves.
When I raised my hand, and took my oath of service I had no idea of the journey Leadership Philosophy that laid ahead of me. Joining late in life was one transition, but the transition into the Non-Commission Officer (NCO) Corps, and a leader has been a very rewarding experience. The values that were instilled in me as a child and those that have been drilled into my make-up as an NCO are very similar. The tenants of the seven Army Values have been what I have lived by most of my life and career, however there are four out of the seven values that I hold most valuable and live out on a day to day basis.

To most kids and students, competitive sports are a gateway to blow off some steam or to have fun. To parents, the sports that their children play and the lessons that they teach are an important part of their development and life. Despite what many ‘experts’ would like you to believe, both of these statements are completely true. I believe that kids should be allowed to play competitive sports due to the health benefits, the lessons that they can teach, and as a result of the advanced equipment and rules that are focused on making sports safe, as well as the fact that sports can keep kids out of trouble. One extremely important reason that forces me to take the position that kids should be allowed to compete in competitive sports is the health benefits that children who play sports recieve.
There are many ways in which group dynamics resonate in this film. Group work can foster connections and provide an opportunity /for group members to feel bonded. The Titans football team is a task group; the ultimate role of the group is to have the players come together as one unit. However, there are critical group dynamics that threaten the team’s ability to function properly.
Volleyball I am not going to argue that this is the best sport because this is supposed to be informative essay not argumentative essay, but I will say it is a much better sport than most. Volleyball is a great sport and is very fun, it teaches the importance of teamwork and getting along with others to create chemistry. I will be explaining the sport because often times it is perceived at just whacking a ball across a net and that is not quite right.
