When the AAA Saline baseball team found out we were going to Cooperstown we were so excited. But it cost $2,000 a person so we had to do a whole bunch of fundraiser. . We had a whole bunch on our plate because we had to do fundraisers and we had to practice a lot to be ready. The ride up there was really boring because it was 10 hours
Bloody, bruised, and battered, Falls Church’s football team fought on in the fourth quarter. A football flew through the air as players crashed into one another sprinting to the ball, except I wasn’t on the field, nor was I on the sideline. I was a freshman watching our varsity footall team lose 0 to 48 on homecoming night, a familiar sight to many Falls Church students for the past 40 years. Those past 40 years are what has made Falls Church football the laughing stock of our conference, and since our school was one of the smallest high schools in the area, we never had the speed, size, or numbers to compete with other football teams. Our own school saw the team as a joke, 0-10 was a common season record, and being a Falls Church football
I do not remember my first time watching a televised hockey game or my first time going to watch the Blues at Scottrade Center, but I do know that I was hooked. My dad used to to purchase three tickets from a lady at his work to one Blues game a year. She was a season ticket holder and every season she upgraded her seats one row closer to the ice. When I went to my first game, where we sat, who St. Louis played against, or who won are all beyond my recollection, nevertheless I know that whatever events had transpired, I wanted to watch more hockey.
“This is gonna be a tough play. . . and the Cubs win the World Series!” That sentence, one little sentence had such an impact on my life. My dad and I sat on our burgundy leather couch anxiously watching the strikes tick up and the outs roll in one by one.
Thousands of people are waiting. Thousands of people are wearing jerseys and talking about their favorite football team, the Green Bay Packers. My family was part of the thousands on August 8, 2015. We had joined one of the many parties where people were excitedly waiting for Family Night at the Green Bay Packers Stadium. I really didn’t care about football at all, but I was still excited to go and watch with my family.
After a couple drinks my dad and his friend go into the stadium and find their seats. My dad only had 3 or 4 drinks at the Packer game and at the beginning of 3rd quarter they finally left to go home. My dads friend dropped my dad off at his car in appleton then, my dad drove home only to the edge of Oshkosh at the last stop light. He only made it that far because he got pulled over.
When I was 7 years old I went to my first high school game with my mom, the teams that played were Roosevelt and Flower. I will never forget that day Sept 8th at 8PM friday night lights. My older cousin Brett Pierce was the starting Cornerback for flowers, I admired him because he the starting Corner and he was ranked #23 in the Nation for his position. My cousin ended the game with 18 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 3 forced fumbles that was one of the greatest days of my life. After the game was over I asked my mom could she sign me up to play football, she told me I wasn’t big enough.
When we first moved here my mom went to one of the high school football games and was amazed by the spirit of the fans. She then found out that it was because the football team had won the last two games and they are supposed to be a losing team. Also at this time my brothers and I had been telling my mom for years she needed to quit smoking which she had been doing since she was 13. So, we designed a contract. The contract stated that if the Wabash High School football team had a winning season meaning they had to win 5 games that my mother had to quit smoking.
Red and Gold Throughout the week the anticipation builds, you can feel it in the air you breathe. Everyone is talking about the game that is coming up that weekend and predicting how the team will perform. That is what got me so excited for my first Iowa State football game. The day of the game was perfect for football the weather was fantastic the sun was peeking through the clouds, and the air had a little nip to it.
I can not remember a year where I was as excited for the Vikings season and then this goes and happens. Twenty minutes into practice on Tuesday Teddy Bridgewater took a snap from under center and as he was dropping back to pass he screamed in agony and went down. He suffered some sort of non contact knee injury. Everybody in the building could tell how serious the injury was by the reaction of the players, some cursed, some threw helmets, and some even prayed.
Every Thanksgiving, my immediate family and I go down to Chicago to spend the holiday with more family. We spend Thanksgiving, like everyone else, with football and eating. In addition to this, we play many games including cards, board games or throwing a football. One year, when I was young, members of my
I could no longer afford to pay my cell phone bill because I had ran out of funds. Unfortunately, my phone had been turned off, After one month, I knew my family started to worry about me so I called one of my aunt to let her know I was fine. She said she was very worried and she even called campus safety and they told her to email me. Then, she offered to pay my phone bill so that my line could be turn on, I told her not to bothered because my phone is broken.
It was hard to believe I was headed to University of Michigan to watch the Wolverines play Akron in football. It was my first time going to the Big House. Our tickets came late, we had to print off four copies to get in . We got there so early we tailgated with some students. Then went to buffalo wild wings for drinks and to use the bathroom before we went in the stadium.
Adrenaline pulsing through my body and anxiety filling up in my stomach, I quickly throw on my football gear and head out to the practice field. It’s a nice hot day in Ocala, Florida, with the sun beating down on our necks, we stand side by side in line waiting to be picked to play second, third, or fourth string in a play. Waiting in anticipation, each of us grinding our teeth, watching first string pure athletes colliding against each other like gladiators to have possession of a ball made at one-time of “pig’s skin”. To some people, the game of American football makes no sense, whether it’s the idea of trying to protect a ball or running and passing it to make a goal for your team. People like this, see the concept of football and understand why millions of people love it; but to them the sport is pointless and causes way too many casualties.
It was the final day of the trip my seventh Birthday the first thing that happened was when my parents told me that they were getting married I was so excited as well as shocked. Then my parents gave me a Brett Favre number four Vikings jersey it was awesome and even better my step dad got a matching
