A thirty- seven year old nurse practitioner was working at an urgent care when a 23-year-old graduate student arrived. Complaining of fever, chest pains, and cough. He had a temperature of 101°F. He also stated that he had been unwell for the last couple of days. The nurse practitioner completed a brief examination of the patient, and gave a diagnosis of bronchitis. A prescription antibiotic was given. He was told to come back in a couple of days if he was not feeling better. The next morning friends found the 23 year old patient dead. Medical examiners identified that the young man died of myocarditis. Weeks later, the nurse practitioner found out about her patient when the urgent cared was being sued for negligent treatment. During, trial it was brought to light that the nurse
Many nurses do not get involved in health care policy even though the nurse should. Most nurses do not know much about health care policies, some view it as “foreign and complex” (Falk, 2014, p. 203). I consider myself one of the nurses that do not know much about health care policy and I am one of the nurses that do not get involved in health care policy. I do not get involved with health care policy because I was never taught about it, so I do not want to get involved in something that I do not know much about. I look forward to learn more about health policies and becoming more involved in health policies.
In the healthcare field, there are so many occupations to choose from. Occupations and careers and important milestones in life because they not only define so much about you, but they set what you are going to do the rest of your life. The healthcare field is a field of high interest to many people. One occupation of great interest is a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). An LPN is someone who works under registered nurses or physicians and takes care of sick, injured, or disabled patients.
8 EXPERTISE IN NURSING High demand for nurses to give quality and standard care has led to an increase in innovative nursing practice. How can these standards and innovations be maintained progressively to meet the dynamics in health care? .The only way is to continue to develop nurses knowledge and skills to the point where they become experts. According to Patricia Benner a nurse theorist, it is by the nurse practitioner gaining experience to the point where they become experts.
During this semester I learned how to synthesize nursing research. During NUR700 I learned that in order to probably synthesize qualitative nursing research articles, one must examine the articles, and analyze the findings by breaking down the research. Primary care providers, nurses and ancillary healthcare team members, integrates clinical scholarship and analytical methods for evidence-based practice (EBP) by increasing knowledge, synthesizing quantitative/qualitative research and continuing education. By integrating EBP it can lead to developmental changes in implementing policies, procedures, and changes in clinical practices. During this semester I was able to understand that nursing theories provides direction and guidance for nursing
General Nurse practitioners are the second highest paid in the Nursing Field according to www.Nurse.org. can prepare them. It is hoped that advances in medical technology will continue to improve the survival rate of patient’s life-threatening diseases. For this reason, the community college should grow their existing health care programs as well as create short-term post-secondary programs, one-year certificate programs, and post-graduate programs leading to advanced certification in the health field (Romano and Kasper, 2009).

The term six research theory course, NURS 495, emphasized the importance of nurse leadership and how nurses can influence positive changes in health care delivery to patients with chronic illness. It also explored the contradictions that exist in nursing practice and encouraged the students to develop a critical and pragmatic approach to client care. The co-requisite clinical course, NURS 499, integrated nursing theory and current best practice on an acute care nursing unit at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. In this consolidated learning analysis, I will explore a nursing practice event that will illustrate the major issues surrounding the treatment of competing mental health comorbidities in a patient with hoarding behaviors. I will also
I am deciding to apply to the University of Wisconsin-Madison because I am intrigued by the opportunities the university has to offer. During my time at UW-Madison I hope to participate in intramural sports, get a job, receive an excellent education, and much more. The city life offers a diverse culture and allows you to learn about and to appreciate life.
A nurse anesthetist is an advanced clinical nursing specialty. In order to become a nurse anesthetist in New York the nurse must have a New York registered license. They then can go to an accredited nurse anesthesia school that lasts 24-36 months. Once the nurse graduates from the program, the nurse must pass an exam to become a CRNA. In order to maintain their certification at least 40 hours of education are required every two years. According to New York Health Cares info, “nurse anesthetist work with surgeons, obstetricians, dentists, podiatrists, and anesthesiologists and may work in hospitals, physician anesthesiologist groups, CRNA groups, or are self-employed.” According to the AANA, a nurse anesthetist “provides anesthesia and anesthesia-related
As one embarks on their developmental path into their professional career it is essential to have a definition and philosophy of what that career means. My definition of nursing is congruent with that of the Eastern Kentucky University’s College of Health Sciences Department of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Program which states, “Nursing is an autonomous and caring profession. Nursing is an art and science that promotes health through patient-centered care. While respecting patients’ rights to self-determination, nursing provides holistic care during health, illness, and death” (EKU CHS DBGN. 2015/2016, p.6). The focus of this paper will be to discuss my nursing philosophy which expands on two of the four core values expressed by the EKU CHS DBGN- nursing (holistic care) and health (spiritual).
"Many people want success, but are unwilling to do what has to be done to be successful. It's all about commitment." reveals Jenny Craig. There has been a plethora of individuals who wish to succeed in the future but do not possess the mental adroitness in order to achieve their goals in being successful. When these individuals are in the face of obstacles they will fall weak and eventually decide to give up on their goal. I on the other hand, believe I have the perseverance, strength, and skill to achieve my goal of graduating from a university, and becoming a registered nurse. Throughout my high school career I have taken classes that have given direct hands-on experience in the medical field. General Medicine is a class I took last year.
