Phones shouldn’t be used in school. First of all, cellphones are detrimental because it distracts other students and classmates. The pew research says, “ ...Sixty five percent of students sneak their phones in school, and are distracted by it.” This means that other students are losing focus while trying to learn. There has been an ongoing debate about whether or not cell phones should be allowed for students to use during class. Some individuals believe that cell phones would be useful in class and provide a good way to communicate, while others believe that phones are only a distraction inside of class and a way to spread rumors and misinformation. After much research, I have come to the conclusion that cell phones should not be allowed during class because they are a potential distraction, they could be a source for cheating, and we are already paying a lot of money to provide our chromebooks. One reason I believe that cell phones have no purpose inside of a class is that they provide an easy way to cheat.
If students are distracted and not paying attention in class, they will not learn at an efficient rate. Despite this if teachers constantly are watching over students and standards are put in place the distraction of phones in the classroom will be a minor problem. In schools students can use mobile phones as a social status. Students whose parents who can’t afford to buy them a latest mobile phone can be belittled and fell out of place because they simply don’t have the latest gadget. The students with the latest phones will want to pull them out at school showing their new toy off and possibly causing another student to be jealous and perhaps steal it. By not allowing mobile phones in school this can possibly take away this social status with the latest technology and help the other student who are less fortunate to fit in a bit
The banning of the presence or usage of cell phones and other gadgets on school grounds have been a long and ongoing debate within the school system. Some argued that the banning of the use of electronic devices, such as cell phones, would suggest that the schools were “out of date” and that the use of these devices would help the students in their process of learning. But, supporters of phones has counter-argued that if cell phones are allowed to be used during lessons, these devices would in turn enable the student’s ability to concentrate on the lesson. Even though, both sides had given reasons to support their judgment on the issue, I believed that students should not have cell phones or other electronic devices in school. The most obvious argument that support the banning of cell phones is that the presence of cell phones distracts the students from paying attention the lesson.
