The famous Tejano Queen, Selena Quintanilla-Perez, was born in Houston, Texas on April 16, 1971. Selena was involved in the music industry from a very early age because her family was struggling to find a way to get by. Selena started off singing with her siblings, calling themselves, “Selena y Los Dinos”. Quickly Selena’s music career started taking off and soon enough Selena became known all over the United States as the Queen of Tejano music. Selena was murdered on March 31, 1995 by one of the members of her fan club. Selena was widely looked up to in the Mexican American community, and she was an inspiration to everyone who wanted to make a name out of themselves from nothing. Selena Quintanilla-Perez inspired many with her selfless personality and impeccable music, her legacy still lives on today, even 23 years after her death.
Abraham Quintanilla and Marcella Ofelia were parents of A.B Quintanilla III, Suzette Quintanilla and Selena. They lived in a house in Lake Jacskon, Texas, where Abraham opened up his own restaurant, Papa Gayo’s. Not only is Selena still being talked about today because of her legacy and the music that she left, but also because of situations like these. Without the concern and curiosity about where the money her family makes from her past-life collaborations, there would be no talk about Selena, meaning that slowly she would stop being a popular topic. As the years go on there will probably more Selena collaborations whether it be makeup or events like Fiesta De Flor. As of this moment there is not a lot of big named artists who are chasing the Tejano Queen name, meaning that Selena still remains #1.
