My opinion of the video about Sirken Robinson, and his discussion about creativity and education was very relatable to me. I enjoyed the video, and I had thought it was quite inspiring to me. The most thing that was relatable to me was when Robinson was talking about the little girl was that was told she had, had a learning disorder because she was fidgeting and was not able to concentrate or being able to stay still, which was called “ADHD,” but in that case was not known in the 1930’s. The reason it was relatable to me is because when I was younger, all I did was move. I loved dancing. The way I was able to groove with the beat and the rhythm, just made things a lot more easier. I was not able to stay still sitting in a chair, when music would be playing in the classroom, I always had to move because the music was flowing nicely to whereas it make me focus on learning a lot more. I agree that learning is not just based on the upper part of your body and brain but it also based on creativity and creativity for learning in all sorts of way such as dancing.
Sirken Robinson had mentioned that human creativity has put us in a place in where we have no idea of what is going to happen, and I certainly agree on that statement. Everyone has an interesting education, whether they know it or not and I agree because not everyone learns the same way. I believe that each person has their own creativity of learning and being focused on whether it is being able to learn with music,
There was a lot that I took away from the Capturing Kids’ Hearts presentation. First off, I would have loved to have had a teacher like Rashel Ward-Bussard when I was in 8th grade. When I was that age I wanted to be treated like an adult, and yet, I did not know how to act like one. In the presenter’s class, it sounds like the students are not just taught science—but taught life lessons.
Marcus eventually claims that “music mind develops only we put in years of hard work” (Marcus 181), but it is not something people are born with. To back up his claim, he provides two psychological evidence in the article. The first evidence is that most children struggle to distinguish discrete notes. Marcus gives an example of little kids singing a song to show how this first
Not many people took into consideration what discrimination could do to people. I love the fact that she went out of her way to teach her students that discriminating actually hurt, and not just being a victim of it, but also being the one doing it. It could turn a sweet soul into a deviant one. It was also shocking how the students really did not know their attitudes changed until after they stepped back and observed. I believe that this experiment/ lesson should be taught more often, because there is still discrimination going on till this day.
A class divided was an entertaining video to watch. I enjoyed watching Mrs. Elliott implement her exercise regarding discrimination and racism. It was also interesting how Mrs. Elliott 's third graders responded to her when they were asked a question about black people. Then she began her exercise by stating, "That she was the teacher and since she has blue eyes then blue-eyed people should be on top. " Then she stated,"Blue-eyed people are smarter than brown-eyed people.
Sir Ken Robinson, winner of the Gordon Parks Award for Achievements in Education and a Knight Bachelor explains how schools are killing our creativity. Robinson proves this by quoting famous artists, reading anecdotes, giving his thoughts/experiences throughout his life, and using the three elements of rhetorical appeals. Sir Ken Robinson explains that from a young age, children are conditioned to only think of one correct answer and to be afraid of failing. Sir Ken Robinson devoted his life to education and became the Director of The Arts in Schools Project. His books mainly consist of educational and inspirational help books.
Gladwell adds to his claim by inspecting on the talent of composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, where he writes, “...famously started writing music at [age] six” but “...didn’t produce his greatest work until he had been composing for more than twenty years” (Gladwell). In short, this means that even the most famous composer such as Mozart himself had to go through years of practice to reach true mastery. Yes, he was born with musical abilities, but it was the preparation, that helped him to reach his
I know that creativity and the art is very important material for children to learn at a early age. Also in the creativity and art area they are able to figure out different problem and then are able to solve them. In the art area it can help boost their child self confidence and self esteem while in the classroom. One way I will suggestion to the families and caregivers is to make sure that their activities are age appropriate. The second suggestion I will make sure that they have enough room to explore and developing their gross motor skils.
The general argument made by Alix Spiegel in his work “Struggle For Smarts? How Eastern And Western Cultures Tackles Learning”, published on November twelfth,2012, is that the east and the west need to adjust the way that they think. In schools, the students in America view struggle as being not smart. Across the world, in places like China and Japan, struggle is viewed as a learning opportunity. Within this work, the author is arguing that we, in America, need to change.
There are many other aspects of dance then just learning the “moves”. A dancer must have well trained technique, flexibility, muscular body, know terminology, memorize steps and so much more. There are so many important aspects of dance most people do not realize. If dance was given more publicity, more people would view it as a
I’ve been literate in music for ten years. Just like I can communicate with people by talking, I can communicate with them through music. It is easy to be literate in music even if you don’t know how to read music notes. Snapping your fingers, tapping your feet or swaying your body is a form of dance and communication. It means that you can feel the music, which is communication between your brain and your body.
Each elements in children’s live could guide children toward to variety of ways. For a good future development, students should have ability to innovate and endow things new meaning. Creativity is an essential element for students. Based on the Ipods experiment, students create their own methods for better study. This is one of the reflection of the creativity in the real educational context.
Student’s name Professor’s Name Course Date Successful use of Rhetorical Strategies Introduction Ken Robinson delivers a TED talk on “schools kill creativity” filmed in February 2006. The talk aims to challenge the education system and the fact that it has little emphasis on the creativity of individuals. Robinson notes that children should not only be made to pursue their studies but also follow their passions and their interests which lie in their talents.
1.Robinson argues that education systems and society are at fault for the low amount of creativity found in students. 2. Ken Robinson suggests there is a decrease in creativity as a result of an academic inability to nurture individualism as well as a societal pressure to become academically similar. Robinson effectively brings to mind the inadequacy of the education system by addressing its failure in equalizing the importance of all subjects and developing different types of intelligence. His line of reasoning mainly built upon a logical narrative that succeeds in persuading his audience.
I have always had a burning passion for dance since I was a young girl. My first time on a stage, I was immediately hooked. The overpowering feeling of a crowd of people watching me as I do what I love, is a feeling I have always admired. Dance has developed my character and personality in many different ways. I have been taught responsibility, discipline, integrity and much more.
So, must of them must help you to encourage your creativity. And not only in specific areas, I personally don 't think schools are doing enough to encourage the students creativity. There are many more arts and subjects schools should use to encourage creativity. Including physical subjects, like PE. And those results should improve in our society.
