Introduction Speech-and Goals Setting Reflection Paper
1. Please comment on what went well and what did not go well during your speech. Last class, I did a quick speech to my classmates to introduce myself because I did not have partner. I think I did well on my first speech. I was prepared for my presentation and read aloud for several times to make my structure clearly. However, there are still lots of things that I need to work on. I was a little bit nervous during the speech and did not relax at all, so I lack some eye contact to the audience. The professor also mention that I do not have a rising tone. 2. Integrating your own reflections and the instructor’s feedback on your speech, identify areas

I also will have many explanation on some points to help me memorize my speech.
Meanwhile, video recording it and try to find whether the thing that I did not do well in the first speech and still exist in the second speech. Final step, figure out all the things I did not do well and practice as much as I can to make sure that I could show my confidence to the audience. 6.Clearly identify 3 areas of learning/improvement that you would like to focus on throughout the semester.
Throughout this semester, there are three aspects I would like to focus on. The first is that I need to be confident and willing to make eye contact with the audience so that I would give my audience an impression of confidence.
Secondly, I need to prepare my speech a lot ahead of time, so that when I come to the stage, I will not be nervous and would show my speech to my audience with a better effect.
Third of all, I will watch a lot of famous people’s speech and learn how their tone goes throughout the speech and try to apply those tactics on my own speech. So that my speech will be more

Standing there, talking confidently will let me give a really good impression to the clients and let them think that I am really professional and trustworthy. So that they would be more willing to work with me. 8. Looking over the syllabus for this semester, what speeches/assignments do you believe will help you the most to achieve the improvements you are seeking?
In my point of view, I think I may good at Speech Four which is a Persuasive Speech. I expect this speech because I am good at persuasive others and change their opinions. I can choose my the topic I liked so that I would have much interests on it. I would build a big picture through a small point. In addition, because I can choose topic freely, I would have enough confidence to give a speech. 9. Have you taken any other speech classes, or been involved in Toastmasters, or any other school or business activities that have helped you improve your speaking skills up until
1. When have I learned? In what circumstances? Under what conditions? I have learned during the last two weeks, from working on finishing up our power point presentation.
Presenting a speech, so it is effective, is not always an easy task. For instance, in Julius Caesar, Brutus and Antony speak to the crowd back-to-back from each other, yet one speech in particular makes an impact on the crowd. After both monologues are given, it is crystal clear who is the most favorable of the two in the Roman’s eyes. One, in particular, used spectacular tactics so the crowd would change their point of view on the situation.
Giving a speech whether being for the public or not, offers personal, professional, and public benefits for the individual. The individual might find it easier to obtain a profession, build better relationships amongst peers, or even propel social movements by carefully constructing and delivering a well thought out speech. A speech needs to be excellent in order to do such things; it needs to have a clear concise thesis, a preview statement, a great organizational pattern, supporting material, memory, delivery and good representation of oneself. Thus, during the process of constructing and delivering a speech, one must have those aspects. This will ensure the speaker will deliver a powerful and moving speech.
Attention First and foremost, for deliver the speech speaker need to gain the attention of the audience since if we do not have their attention we can not persuade the audience ,speaker can grabs the audience’s attention and orients them to the issue use a humorous or dramatic story, a question, a quotation, a startling statement, etc. For example, in a speech designed to get the audience to concerning about the obesity from unhealthy food ,Jamie Oliver open the speech by using a dramatic opening “Sadly, in the next 18 minutes when I do our chat, four Americans that are alive will be dead from the food that they eat.” Jamie grabs the audience attention by questioning how in short time four people can die from the food they eat. 2.
After being chosen as the President of National Honor Society, the most active club at my school, one of my duties was inducting the new members each year. I remember the butterflies in my stomach as I looked out at all the NHS members and their parents sitting in the huge auditorium. My principal and head of school were both keenly listening to me speak as I prayed not to stutter on any words. However, with every word that left my mouth, I felt my level of confidence rising. After finishing off strong and hearing the roar of applause, I realized that effective public speaking is a vital leadership skill that I definitely
I used more gestures that on my last speech, I moved around more, and I maintained eye contact throughout most of the speech. I did smile at the beginning of the speech, but I did not at the end. I also feel that when I went back to my seat I did not leave a good “pow” statement for the class to think about. For my next speech, I could improve my delivery with less exaggerated gestures, and less stuttering. I still need to focus on dynamism and
In my speech I discussed smoothie. I wanted to accomplish the goal of conveying to the audience that smoothie can be a nutrient-dense, on the go meal while providing the body with vitamins and mineral necessary for proper nutrition. I wanted to continue to work on having my speech sound more casual, not rehearsed and also try speaking at a slower rate Along with that; I wanted to continue not to let my nerves get the better of me. Before my speech, I was extremely engaged in the speaker that went before me.
Being confident shows your audience you are comfortable talking about your topic and that you are well informed on what you are specking of. Another thing that I can improve on is relaxing, for example, to not be so nervous. If I can think two steps ahead before I speak it would prepare me for what I am about to say which will allow my words to flow out smoothly and correctly. I plan on improving these skills by practicing more speeches in front of people and doing some relaxation exercises before my speech. I believe by implementing more speeches and doing some of the exercises, it will have me more relaxed, keep my mind focused and boost up my confidence so that I may present my speech flawlessly for an A plus grade.
3.Choose one aspect of your presentation and tell me how you will work to improve it for your next presentation. Be concrete. Offer suggestions that you will use for improvement. I always get anxious before giving any speech or presentation. I may not maintain eye contact with the audience to cop up with my anxiety.
Rationale Written task: Britt Wesseling I have chosen a ted talk as my text type, because I think this is a great opportunity to advice people on how to be a great public speaker. The ted talk shows several techniques on how you can be a good public speaker. Being a good public speaker is having the ability to persuade and influence your audience in order to send your message. Great leaders are one of the best examples, because their goal is of course to inspire and activate the listeners.
Because of my inability to provide a calm and silent environment as part of my interviewing techniques, I missed out on gaining potential relevant information about my client. In the future, I will provide a very calm environment that allows the client to really express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I will ask questions one at a time rather than grouping them together, and I will go into the interviews mentally prepared, thus removing any self-perceived awkwardness. I also will learn new interviewing techniques on how make your client feel appropriately validated and emotionally supported. I also need to work on my body language whenever conducting interviews in the future.
My biggest need is just the need to be better prepared and second to be more organized. Practice and opportunities to speak in front of a group will help to continue to develop speaking skills. During interviews, I dislike questions about how I feel or a time when I reacted a certain way. Just like in a speech situation I feel everything is moving too fast and I need to remember to slow down, take a breath and remember I’ll be fine.
but I have grown as a public speaker. I hope that this class helps to further improve my public speaking skills and helps prove to myself that I can speak in front of
My Personal Mission Statement. It is my mission to live a life of positivity, integrity, compassion and gratitude. To remain committed to my Jewish values and way of life. And to make the world a more meaningful place through developing significant relationships with those around me.
Life is not about being born, go to school get a degree, amass wealth, get married, raise a family and die to be buried. There is more to life than just this process. Like Jeremiah, God told him that before you were formed, I knew you and before you came out of your mother’s womb, I sanctified you and ordained you a prophet. This supports the fact that, before you were born, a work has already been assigned to your name. To put it this way, every human embryo has a work assigned to it, to accomplish on earth so it doesn’t matter how the human embryo was formed or who carries it.
